The more I spend time outdoors, the more it is clear to me how much waste there is in our environment. I want to do my part in reducing my plastic use as well as keeping it out of nature as much as possible by using reusable products as frequently as possible, and being more conscientious about what I am purchasing.

This challenge has been way harder then expected because store give you plastic bag everywhere you go. Im not the type to carry reusable bags with me so it's been hard. The easy part I would say would have to be finding a purpose for the bags they do give me. For example I reuse them as trash bags or to store things around my home.

I learned that a water footprint is sort of like a tracker that checks how much water is needed to produce goods. I will reduce the amount of time I spend in the shower and as well as turning off the water while I am shaving or brushing my teeth.

During our lunch and learn, my friend and I talked about eco-friendly gardening. We used online guides, books, and what we've learned from our own gardens. It was very engaging. I think the act of picking up litter connects me more to my community because Im doing my part in keeping my town a little more clean and I know the animals around won't being eating it and getting sick and dying.

My 2024 earth month eco challenge is going fantastic! I feel like advocating and promoting a safer and clean space is crucial to live in a healthy environment.

The simple act of picking up litter connects me more to my community because I am engaging my time into making the neighborhood a cleaner environment.

What was the most eye opening to me during this process was that I realized how simple it is to just carry your own trash away but somehow we still have problems with waste being thrown on the ground. I will advocate to people I know to carry their trash and dispose of it appropriately

The most single use item I use would probably be straws especially when I go to Starbucks or go out to eat but I started to take my own reusable straw.
