Today I took a walk and brought a trash bag and picked up plastics because there is so much trash.

I had planned to do some community gardening and planting some spring veggies and fruits for my neighborhood, yet found myself charged with a very different task. My sister rescued a duckling from a storm drain and I was able to take care of the sweet duckling and find a sanctuary near by so she could be rehabilitated to be released back into the wild. Of course, I fell in love with the baby duck, yet am happy to see her safe and soon free!!

Two more days - its been great to get back into the walking and picking up garbage habit. Spent a lot of time looking into the marine aquarium trade today - a complicated issue balancing local needs, hobbyists' ability to raise awareness, and all the other challenges to the reefs. like climate change, flooding, ocean acidifcation. Did not know that anemones bleach just like corals!

I am going to buy 2 guppyfriend laundry bags. The filter option might not fit behind my machine, the cora ball will tangle things. The last article listed in the "learn More' section was helpful and the author carefully reviews some of the research that has been done,

Climate + Air Calculate My Carbon Impact
Where in your life do you emit the most carbon? What change are you willing to make in your daily life to reduce this output?

    David Umana's avatar
    David Umana 4/28/2024 8:12 PM
The largest portion of my carbon emission is correlated to my consumption, about 3.9 tons each year. Moving forward, I plan to make changes in what I eat to reduce this output by paying more attention to products with palm oil and by growing, hunting, and fishing my own food.

Freshwater + Oceans Understand My Water Footprint
What did you learn about your water footprint and what are you going to do to reduce and be aware of the water you use?

I learned today that my water footprint is below that of the US Average. My water footprint stands at 1,306 Gallons/Day while the US Average stands at 1,802 Gallons/Day. Moving forward, I plan to reduce my water usage by taking showers that last under 5min and also using colder water since it uses less energy.
