A bit late to checkin today, but we just finished a long (and great) day with the DACH leadership team in Vienna. It was great to visit the OMV refinery and learn more about their corporate strategy to diversify their business including staying the course on their net zero and other sustainability objectives. And then in the DACH review we ended our day hearing about how they are also working to accelerate achievement of their net zero objectives. Great day!

Another one-time action regarding products in my home, but this one really shed light on toxic chemicals in so many non-liquid products. Stain resistant furniture, wrinkle resistant sheets and clothes, flame retardant electronics. There are much more troublesome products than the ones that typically come to mind...yet there are alternatives to most of them too.

I replaced both my everyday cleaning product in the kitchen and a floor cleaner that I had been using. After inspecting closer, even the warning label on the containers highlighted the risk to person, environment, and pets. My wife has been making DIY cleaners from white vinegar, sometimes baking soda, and sometimes essential oils for some time. Now I have a few at the ready for my house in Switzerland too. There are still a lot more products in the house that need to gradually be exchanged, but it is good to start the journey.

Extreme weather in Texas is something that we have been accustomed to, including hurricanes, occasional tornadoes, heavy rains, and sometimes flooding. These also come with extended power outages (the longest we had to endure was 1 week when we lived in Houston). Because of the frequency, we have been pretty good about keeping a supply of resources available in case of the worst.
The situation in Switzerland is a bit different. We have extreme temperature swings so having rain gear and warm clothes and blankets is critical. We have also seen a lot more flooding than in the past. So staying on top of changing weather is important to avoid problems.
