April 25 at 11:51 AMChecked out Fruition Seeds in Naples, New York. They sell a lot of seeds that are regionally adapted and work best in our Finger Lakes climate. I got some potato seed and am excited to cut those up and try planting!

April 24 at 8:29 AMThis was year 1 of pulling highly invasive garlic mustard on my property, and this was only part of what we pulled in 2021. The seed bank can be 7+ years and each plant can release THOUSANDS of seeds. Back at it this year again.

April 23 at 2:07 PMMet a coworker today for lunch and discussed composting, winter sown native plants, invasive species, etc. We also talked about Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary, which has nothing to do with this challenge, but they are an amazing place, so it's worth mentioning :-)

April 22 at 12:01 PMAsked Corning City of Public Works to remove invasive trees off their approved city tree list. They don't know how to change the list and were not consulted with the list.

April 19 at 10:25 AMI frequently walk around my work campus (Sullivan Park). Lots of pretty areas to explore. It helps me relax and reconnect with what's really important to me.

April 19 at 10:24 AMI've been planting native plants and flowers for the last couple of years. This past weekend, we planted a few more. I have a ton of winter sown seedlings currently-- hopefully most survive and we will be extremely busy transplanting. All native.

April 19 at 10:22 AMWe are currently setting up a rain garden to make use of water run-off. We also need to start a water capture system (rain barrel or something) but haven't done this yet. We are also trying to divert water that comes down from the hill away from the house and towards our flower gardens. Trying to divert water is quite challenging! It wants to...

April 19 at 8:04 AMGoing outside is major for my mental health. I love puttering around in the garden and checking every five minutes to see if my peas have sprouted yet :)
-
April 17 at 7:59 AMI learned that "no-till" is an excellent way for soil to retain its health. Regenerative agriculture is a must for our food production going forward. These facts speak for themselves and scare me: "Food production has altered our planet more than any other human activity. It accounts for 24% of greenhouse emissions and 70% of all...
