One of this site's recommended ways to save water is to put a water bottle in your toilet tank, but I don't want more plastics into the water system. Is using a brick okay if placed gently in the tank? Thoughts...recommendations?

So Sam Fetters, I followed your suggestion and bought Drop-A-Brick for my toilets. Hopefully I will see a difference in my water usage!

Maybe 10 years ago, Project Drop-A-Brick was a neat alternative. A natural rubber brick made of a hydro gel that doesn't damage delicate parts of the toilet reservoir. I re-call there was an offset of about 50 gallons of water a week.

What did you learn about your water footprint, and what changes felt most practical or surprising? How does this connect to resilience on a larger scale?

I learned that I am doing okay but have room for improvement. It's important to constantly reflect on the foods I eat and how much water it takes for them to get to my plate.

I live in the desert and all of our plants do not need much water. I have made a conscience choice to conserve water where I live!

Working on making sure to shut the water off while I soap up my hands and then rinse. I do it 95% of the time and am shooting for 100%.
