I loved being part of Earth Month - thank you ecochallenge organizers!! My teammates and y'all inspired me to learn how to do "reels" in order to share my passion for our precious planet. Here's the finale, a call to do "caca-composta" here in the little lakefront vacation town where I live (Bacalar, Q. Roo, Mexico) -...

Once again, I'll share my collage... part of my WHY... here are just a few of the alarming number of species that are threatened or endangered. Keep up the Good Earth work, fellow Ecochallengers!!

I finish this month's Ecochallenge as an outlaw, LOL. Some of you may have seen my post from a few weeks ago where I cleaned up a trail, posted some "please don't litter your cigarette butts" signs, and placed a sand bucket for people to put their cancer sticks out in. I returned today to find that everything was gone. It must be the...

I committed to recording a video to share my "WHY" for participating in the Ecochallenge. Scuba diving is my passion; I love marine wildlife. Here is a link to a short video compilation; a few clips from a recent trip to a small Fijian island called Beqa. What I want to share is the incredible beauty of the underwater world so that...

I helped create art with flip flops that washed up on the beach in Mahahual, a project started by Ana of Menos Plastico es Fantastico. She sells these and other awesome recycled art! https://www.facebook.com/menosplasticoesfantastico

My month has gone well - I am feeling grateful for allies both near and far who are dedicated to generating less trash. My son got involved and will give his classmates a reusable water bottle (with a fun soccer sticker) and straw as souvenirs. for his birthday party this year.

We got to take part in a beach cleanup with Menos Plastico Es Fantastico in Mahahual (Costa Maya for the cruise ships) and cleared away a ton of ocean debris. It felt great to clear some beach for mama sea turtles who are coming in to lay their eggs!

I meant to share this earlier with those who are local to PDX. As part of our research, we stumbled upon this site that is super helpful for locals on how to use less plastic. https://consciousbychloe.com/zero-waste-pdx/ We plan to check out one shop mentioned in this piece called "Replenish Refill Shop", a zero-waste refill shop.

Keeping the spirit of Earth Month up, we headed to our local nursery and picked out a new tree to plant in our front yard. Here's a our new Japanese Maple tree. We plan to plant it this weekend! I will share pictures once it's planted in its new home!

I did a big trail cleanup earlier this week and returned to see the fruits of my labor. Generally, it was good. A few people had used the sand-filled bucket I left for butts (even though smoking is prohibited, people are still doing it). There were a few butts and pieces of litter in the bucket. While walking my dog I picked up any new butts...
