Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

QUESTION
Health and Well-Being
How did decluttering and donating items make you feel, both emotionally and physically?
I always appreciate donating and give to others things that they will better use or enjoy than me! I try to turn more to conscious consumerism and more minimalist lifestyle and it's great! For years , I do it at least 2 times per year , and i will continue doing it as long as i live :)
I've been wanting to get rid of excess things for a long time. I'm grateful to have this problem and grateful for the energy of my husband to actually finally get it done.
Well I share my WHY at the end of this challenge cause i think it's more appropriate for me ! I really enjoyed being more conscious of my influence and mark on this Earth and also am grateful for these experience with my french colleagues! Thank you Delphine, Vincent, Geraldine, Candice and Guillaume for your great posts and for our cute dynamic and interactions, i discovered how great you are! Can't wait to continue contributing together at this Eco life! Thank you Eco Challenge for this month full of precious learning, actions and living! See you next year!
Thank you for your lovely message Oana ! It’s truly been a pleasure sharing this experience with you. I really enjoyed our exchanges and the great energy within the team. See you next year ! 😊
The activity i enjoyed on Sunday is 13 km hike around a wine area called Beaujolais in France! Great sceneries with the vineyards, and great groupe with friends! Aways a blessing these kind of activities :)
Flowers everywhere, nature and sun! Today we visited a flower exposition in a castle yard, it was exceptional ! I share these few photos that don't make justice to the reality! Anyway, a very handy tip for the well-being : nature and being outside! So it was a great relaxing day, recharging the batteries !
What was the most rewarding part of bringing people together for a gathering? Did you experience any challenges in hosting, and if so, how did you overcome them?
Actually i am doing this kind of gatherings for years, one per month were with a group of friends/ or new persons we are playing society and strategy games, and we are between 4 to 8 people depends on the availability, and it is always very rich as experience, fool of laughs and good moments, acceptance and tolerance to losing sometimes haha , anyway i love to organize gatherings, with different themes, and it seems everyone likes it cause they always come back :D For me it comes naturally this kind of interactions with people i don't know but as long as you are authentic things should go well, so go for it! PS: here is a photo of this week gathering :)
Today I painted the Easter eggs as per our Romanian tradition (the results in the photo attached :) ! They are painted with onion shells like my grand-mother did (very sustainable ) ! It's our tradition in every romanian household to paint them before Easter. Even if i am far from family i am bringing the romanian Easter spirit in my house inviting tomorrow the dear ones that are in my life here in France. Tomorrow it will be fully romanian Easter meal! We are blessed to have peace to enjoy these moments with our dear ones! Happy Easter to everyone here!
This is Wonderful Oana!! I love it, if you're ok with it you should bring some to the office to show us how you do and speak about this tradition <3 They are really beautiful Easter eggs!
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Even before this challenge I have started to be more aware about my sugar intake and about the consequences on my body and mind (here in France is not obvious with all the croissants and patisseries around). I already reduced it, and since this challenge i try to eat only 2 desserts/ week, instead of a dessert after each meal! it's quite a challenge i imposed myself but i feel better and less with insulin fluctuations and mood swings (feeling sleepy/tired) :) And each time i feel the need of sugar i try to take a walk, or to do breathing exercises, and it helps a lot!
I was working in France for two months and I noticed that although there are tempting options (particularly in patisseries) the French culture has a very impressive approach to food. People in general are very open to eating vegetarian heavy meals and have balanced food selections during their meals (assortment of vegetables, yogurts, fruit, carbs, and protein)
This period i am reading a book about how to listen the body and identify the emotions in the body: Somawise by Luke Sniewski. I read this weekend an interesting idea that i never have consider it:
" In the broadest sense, meditation = silent stillness, is a solution to the global sustainability crises facing people today. In the face of soaring capitalist consumption and environmental degradation, silent stillness is a way of being that can dampen the destructive flames of modern consumerism. When we stop reacting to the internal drive for more and more and more, at the individual, organizational and collective level, we see that our unsatiated and unceasing appetites are nothing more than an effort to fill a void that material possessions cannot fill. If we consider that most of the food we eat and the products we buy stem from an inability to manage our body's impulses, temptations and primal emotions, then we can see that actually learning how to respond to our inner cues can prevent us from consuming the world and destroying ourselves in the hope of soothing a restless inner state. ANd that is the role of Silent Stillness..."
What can be the best exercise than having a hike at the mountain! And always the best views, mountain flowers and the mountain fresh smell! Aren't we fortunate to be able to walk and do this things? We just have to have the eyes to see it! Enjoy your walks no matter where in this world! Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder :)
It's time for the Wisteria Festival here in France and today we enjoyed a more than one hour walk on the streets to see this beautiful and marvelous smelling flowers! And in between we did our daily Steps!
