Freshwater + Oceans
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Freshwater + Oceans
Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans
I will spend 15 minutes learning more about the importance of freshwater + ocean conservation, and how I can reduce my water use. I will share what I learn with people in person, on social media, and on the feed.

Beauty and Personal Products
Beauty and personal products can create a lot of waste. I will spend 120 minutes learning about the beauty and body products I use to see if they are refillable or recyclable. If not, I will reach out to the manufacturer to advocate for those options.
Climate + Air
Take the Veg Pledge!
Eating a plant-based diet is one of the most impactful (and delicious) ways to reduce your environmental footprint. Follow the link below to join WSP's week-long Veg Pledge and eat vegetarian or vegan from 22-28 April. Take it one step further and host a plant-based pot-luck in your office during April!
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Plastic in Clothing and Water
Synthetic clothing can contain plastic and shed harmful microplastics into our water. I will use a microplastics catcher in my laundry, or install a microplastics filter for my washing machine.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Leave No Trace
I will respect and protect biotic communities by practicing the seven principles of Leave No Trace whenever I am outside.
Climate + Air
Low Carbon Diet
Carbon is emitted into the atmosphere in a variety of ways, including through the foods we eat and food we waste. I will learn about low carbon foods and replace higher carbon foods with them in my diet.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and OceansWhat did you learn about freshwater and oceans you did not already know? In sharing this information with people in your life, which conversation was impactful to you?
Maria Maunez 4/24/2024 3:57 PMI knew that corals were endangered but I didn't know that the rate of their decline was so dramatic. This indicator is very worrisome to me.-
Maria Maunez 4/24/2024 4:03 PMNot this specific article but last year a young woman in Italy invented these re-seeding balls that I thought might be a big help worldwide. I haven't seen any follow-up articles but I look for them when I have time. -
Dina Lomagno 4/24/2024 4:00 PMHave you seen the work that is being done to recreate coral colonies in labs? It's intriguing, you should check it out! Also the restoration process that other countries are doing is quite significant. https://ticotimes.net/2024/03/01/costa-rican-companies-lead-effort-to-restore-coral-reefs

REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity + Wildlife Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Maria Maunez 4/16/2024 6:24 PMOur City & County doesn't offer collection in some city areas. I would like our city council to consider finding a way for this to done. For seniors, those who don't drive, and those who can't carry large amounts to the nearest collection areas is not feasible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate + Air Low Carbon DietWhich high carbon foods will you eat less of, and what are some low carbon options you'll choose instead?
