Ina's actions
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Save the Bees
Bees are vital to ecosystems. To help save the bees, I will learn which local flowers provide nectar and plant them in my backyard or in a pot on my balcony.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Reduce Animal Products
One kilogram of beef and cheese emits 71kg and 24kg of greenhouse gasses, while 1kg of rice, grains, and legumes emits between 2-4kg. Fruits, vegetables, and nuts emit less than 1kg per 1kg. I will reduce my climate impact by enjoying 2 meatless meals and/or 0 vegan meals each day this week.
Land + Forests
30 for 30 in Nature
Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside (in a large or small patch of nature), then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.
Freshwater + Oceans
Go Plastic-Free
Millions of tons of plastic is produced each year worldwide. Each day, I will conduct a plastics audit of what I buy and use throughout the challenge (kitchen, bathroom, personal care products, etc.), to see how single-use plastic shows up in my life. I will find plastic-free alternatives to these products and advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, product manufacturers, at work, or on campus.
Action Track: Community
JOIN OR CREATE A GREEN TEAM AT EMERSON
I will continue to contribute to Emerson's environmental sustainability goals beyond April by learning more about the Global Green Teams Network, joining a team near me, or maybe even creating a new team.
Action Track: Community
SIGN UP TO RECEIVE NEWS ON SUSTAINABILITY AT EMERSON
I will sign up to the Sustainability Aficionados distribution list to receive global news on sustainability at Emerson, including world news and Greening OF, BY, and WITH news.
Action Track: Community
TAKE PICTURES AND SHARE ON LINKEDIN
I will take at least one photograph that is connected with this year's theme of Nature Conservation & Biodiversity (for example an urban park, bee hives, birds and other animals...) and I will post it on LinkedIn with the hashtags #EarthMonthEcochallenge #EarthMonthAtEmerson.
Action Track: Community
ATTEND THE ECOCHALLENGE CONSERVATION WEBINAR
On Wed 24th April, I will attend the Earth Month Ecochallenge Webinar on Conservation to learn about what individuals, companies and other organizations can do to promote biodiversity and nature protection.

Ina Scholz 4/27/2024 3:17 AMYou can find the beauty of nature also in the small and simple things! Just bring your attention to it!🌻-
Ioana Bontas-Pop 4/27/2024 6:25 AMIna, you're so right! The beauty of nature often lies in the simplest moments, like the dandelions which dot our paths with their bright, cheerful presence. Your photo is a wonderful reminder to pause and appreciate the everyday wonders around us. Thanks for sharing this burst of yellow joy! 🌻🌞🌻#Nature'sSimpleBeauty #DandelionsDelight

Ina Scholz 4/26/2024 1:18 PMYou can find peace in nature after an exhausting working week. I went into nature this evening for a long walk and took a deep breath to relax and calm down my mind. Sometimes you feel the pressure and the workload particularly strong. In nature many things relativize and you get back to your own strength. Next week we'll open up a new chapter 😉strong, powerful and positive 🙌
-
Mariana Lazar 4/27/2024 11:22 AMThat is so true Ina! Even few minutes in the nature does wonders! 🥰 I sometimes go for a walk in the nature early in the morning before work. It’s so refreshing!

Ina Scholz 4/21/2024 12:43 PMWas wir heute tun, entscheidet darüber, wie die Welt morgen aussieht.
What we do today will determine what the world will look like tomorrow.
Let 's talk about green activities also when the EcoChallenge ends in some days. So important to create a healty and happy future. -
Ina Scholz 4/14/2024 5:44 AMDuring my daily walk I now practise to pick up all liter I see. And when looking for litter, I noticed that I really live in a clean village :-) Where elsewhere sidewalks are full of rubbish the only thing I found here and there were cigarette filters! I am so grateful for that and will try to contribute keeping our village clean also after the end of the EcoChallenge.
-
Raul Poias 4/16/2024 11:15 PMAmazing Ina and an amazing task for the future! -
Ioana Bontas-Pop 4/15/2024 12:14 AMThat's fantastic, Ina! 🌟 It's great to hear that your village is so well-maintained, and your initiative to pick up litter during your walks is truly inspiring. Every little effort helps in keeping our communities clean and beautiful. Keep up the great work, and thank you for setting such a positive example! 🚮💚#EcoFriendly #KeepItClean

Ina Scholz 4/11/2024 4:05 AMI love choclate as most people do!
Since quite a while I am only consuming choclate made by RETTERGUT and Share.
Rettergut stand for the rescue of raw materials and the appreciation of food. That's why they are committed to combating the waste of resources.
One of the reasons why RETTERGUT exists is that tons of food are still wasted along the entire value chain in Europe. They do not meet the standard, are not aesthetically pleasing enough, have simply been overproduced or are left lying around because not everything runs optimally in the planning process. It's human, but it's a form of ressource waste.
SHARE has a different approach ... you can buy food, drinks, care and more that help people in need at the same time. Each product contains a social donation that goes to various projects worldwide.
So, have a look when doing shopping next time ... give RETTERGUT or SHARE a try ;-)

Ioana Bontas-Pop 4/09/2024 12:17 AMThat's a fantastic habit, Ina! Having a reusable container for your breakfast not only cuts down on waste but also sets a great example for sustainable living. 🌱 It's small changes like these that make a big impact over time. Keep up the great work! 👏🌍#EcoFriendly #SustainableChoices
