Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Freshwater + Oceans
SAVE WATER
Turn off the water flow while soaping, shampooing, brushing your teeth, shaving or washing.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Freshwater + Oceans
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Action Track: Community
JOIN OR CREATE A GREEN TEAM AT EMERSON
I will continue to contribute to Emerson's environmental sustainability goals beyond April by learning more about the Global Green Teams Network, joining a team near me, or maybe even creating a new team.
Action Track: Community
SIGN UP TO RECEIVE NEWS ON SUSTAINABILITY AT EMERSON
I will sign up to the Sustainability Aficionados distribution list to receive global news on sustainability at Emerson, including world news and Greening OF, BY, and WITH news.

Jude Christian Cervantes 4/17/2024 4:57 PMI love how Emerson (my company) reminds us to save the environment. They changed everyone's lock screen image to this so that everyone is reminded of this action. Way to go, Emerson! <3-
Ryan Josue 4/21/2024 9:34 AMMaybe we should change the lock screen of our personal device as well! -

Jude Christian Cervantes 4/17/2024 3:59 AMClimate change is real! :( The weather here in the Philippines is extremely hot compared the past summers. We need to act now or else this will get worsen in the next coming years. Here is a good read on some small actions that can make a big difference on climate change: https://www.bloomberg.com/company/stories/climate-lifestyle-swaps/ -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Use a Reusable Water BottleWhat did you learn about the amount of plastic we consume and what actions will you take to reduce your use of plastic?
Jude Christian Cervantes 4/17/2024 3:52 AM17 days in this challenge, I have already saved 31 plastic bottles on not being sent to the landfill. This is quite a lot of plastic! I will continue to carry on my reusable tumblers in order to reduce my plastic waste. -

Jude Christian Cervantes 4/07/2024 7:55 AMEarlier today, I met my previous workmates over lunch and had coffee after. We met in the same area where we used to work and I'm glad that the city bans the usage of single use plastic! I hope other cities would also do the same, if not, let's help minimize through our own actions. -
Jude Christian Cervantes 4/05/2024 7:11 AMHi team, it's the weekend! The challenge is still applicable on Saturdays and Sundays so be sure to check-in and commit to our selected actions, thanks! :) -
Jude Christian Cervantes 4/04/2024 8:03 AMIt's 4.4 SALE today and the coming days! Be sure to checkout shopping items with environment in mind ;) Happy 4.4! <3-
Jude Christian Cervantes 4/05/2024 7:07 AMHaven't tried to request from seller, but this is a great suggestion, we can try and see if it works :) -
Ryan Josue 4/05/2024 4:04 AMWould you know if it is possible to request to use less plastic in the delivery? Some sellers / courier place the items in plastic pouches within another pouch then in another larger pouch

Jude Christian Cervantes 4/03/2024 6:58 AMAccording to Beyond Plastics Organization (https://www.beyondplastics.org/fact-sheets/plastic-straws), more than 15 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year. By 2025, experts predict that there will be one pound of plastic for every three pounds of fish in the ocean and this is very alarming as this can kill sea animals when they get lodged in their noses, throats and stomachs. If you can, let's stop using plastic straw! Glad I did this earlier when I ordered my iced coffee <3-
Ryan Josue 4/03/2024 8:43 PMBe sure to not hoard reusable straws as well. The manufacturing of those also waste a lot of resources.
