Shopping at my local Walgreens on Friday I assisted a very elderly lady in finding a product that the associate on the floor could not locate (he'd never even heard of it). It was a very small thing, but rather than have her walk away without what she needed I jumped in to help and it made me feel really good. :)

I have worked to use a bare minimum of water while washing dishes, only enough to moisten the sponge or brush and activate the soap while I pile up the clean dishes in the sink, running water only to rinse everything quickly at the end. Saves on water of course, and energy to heat the water as well.

It snowed! We got 4 inches, so I spent time outside clearing off the cars, some basic shoveling. It wasn't too cold, nice fresh air!

I know we can do a better job of packing the dishwasher. More plates/bowls/cups can probably fit. It's a bit relaxing to run the dishwasher less often. I think watering plants and being aware of how much we are running water to get it to heat up or cool down is where my family can improve. We started to keep a watering can next to the sink. If...

Walking outside is my favorite activity. If I'm able to take a walk alone - it's like a meditation. A walk with family or friends is connection. Love the fresh air and the best walks are surrounded by nature - but even a walk in the neighborhood is awesome!

In preparation for wildfire season, we created a defensible space around our home. We cleared underbrush, trimmed tree branches and installed an additional water hydrant on our property.

Single-use plastic bags are used for just minutes but take hundreds of years to break down! Let's challenge ourselves to bring our own reusable bags with us when shopping - and take it one step further by keeping a few in your car (or purse) at all times. Having them on hand makes sustainable choices second nature. Small habit. Big impact....

I've been enjoying the Peloton personalized plan workouts that is offered with my membership! It's helping to keep me moving (and exercising) on both my active and recovery days. #FitnessGoals #StayingActive

I purposefully plant lots of native wildflowers to help the bees in my area. I also have mason bee homes and a source of water for bees in my garden. Bees are very important to our plants and agriculture. I was a bit disappointed in one of the articles that focused on the European Honey Bee and not native bees. The honey bees - while great -...

Most of our bulbs were replaced, but we did find a couple more areas of the house where we hadn't converted over. The Eco-Challenge was a great time to shoot this to the top of our To-Do List and get them changed!
