Question: Where do people dispose of their home alkaline batteries? I used to take them to Hazardous Waste, but now they are telling me I can throw them in the garbage. I can't. It feels wrong.

It's been wonderful to have nice enough weather to turn off our heat, and nice that it's not so hot outside that we have to turn our air conditioning on. Excited to have a lower utility bill this month! I'm also starting to think about how to reduce our energy usage at home this summer. Because it stays light out later, we will likely keep...

This year I will grow tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, bell peppers, strawberries, and spinach. I'm hoping to grow enough to make salsa, pasta sauce, pickles and strawberry jam for my husband and I for the year. Maybe some to give away to family/friends for holiday gifts.

Not only will it liven up my space, but it will attract pollinators for my vegetable and strawberry plants.

Last weekend I was going to try canning tomato sauce from tomatoes I had in my freezer from last garden season. It ended up being way too watery so I didn't feel like I should spend time trying to can something I wasn't going to eat. I am planning on doing a lot of canning this summer as I am going to grow strawberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers...

Today we are hosting a "Bling Your Bottle" event for staff members to bring in their water bottle or coffee travel mugs and decorate it with stickers. We hope this encourages staff to use less single use cups across campus.

Today, I brought my snacks in a compostable bag instead of a plastic ziploc bag. Simple and easy change!
