    433 Sapling were planted during the earthday by Benchmark during the event hosted by Penang State Forestry Department which cameout total of 1 million trees planted within a day by various parties in whole Penang & stated in Malaysia Books of record

    Addressing the menace of single-use plastics, Benchmark EMS Penang took a bold step towards sustainability by announcing a banned on single-use plastics at our canteen. With a staggering 9.3 kg of single-use plastics waste generated daily, this decision was a crucial milestone in our journey towards environmental sustainability. Effective April 22nd, 2024, our canteen ceased providing single-use plastics such as bags, straw, food containers, cups, and cutlery.

    Jabatan Perhutanan, the esteemed forestry department in Penang, Malaysia, has set forth
    on an inspiring mission to plant 1 million trees on earth day. Demonstrating a strong commitment to
    environmental conservation and sustainability. This commendable initiative has garnered
    the support of Benchmark, known for our steadfast dedication to sustainable practices
    and environmental stewardship. Together, championing the cause of
    reforestation and biodiversity conservation.
    In a significant stride towards achieving their ambitious tree-planting goal,
    Jabatan Perhutanan (forestry department) recently organized a momentous
    event on the 22nd of April at HSK Pasir Gebu in Teluk Malas, Penaga.
    The focal point of this event was the planting of 200 “Pokok Api Api” (Acanthaceae trees),
    a diverse and ecologically valuable plant family, known for their ornamental beauty and
    environmental benefits.
    This symbolic tree-planting ceremony was graced by the Director of Jabatan Perhutanan Penang
    (Penang forestry department), who officiated the event with a poignant message emphasizing
    the importance of preserving and restoring our natural habitats. The presence of the director
    underscored the department's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and
    the promotion of green initiatives within the community.
    By planting 200 pokok Api Api (Acanthaceae trees), Jabatan Perhutanan (forestry department)
    it is not only making tangible progress towards their goal of planting 1 million trees
    but also contributing to the enhancement of local biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
    Through collaboration with like-minded partners such as Benchmark,
    the department is fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and collective action towards
    a more sustainable future.
    As this tree-planting initiative gains momentum and community engagement, it is hoped that
    more individuals and organizations will be inspired to join hands in this noble endeavour. Together,
    through shared dedication and collaborative efforts, we can create a greener, healthier planet
    for current and future generations. Jabatan Perhutanan's commitment to planting trees
    and preserving nature serves as a beacon of hope and a shining example of proactive environmental
    stewardship.

    In the beginning of the the ecochallenge 2024 was very challenging to do away with single use plastic wares, be it cup or bags. Need constant reminder of myself. As I progress on, the effort has become a habit. Though from time to time, will still need to remind myself. Still a work in progress! :)
