things got inspected when a heat pump was installed to replace an old gas/electric furnace that was very inefficent

I've always recycled, long before it was easy. My mom and I would set aside some time to do all the recyclng and take it somewhere and it was a whole thing. I've even brought home things from vacation instead of throwing them away, haha. It's just engrained. So my recycling bin is always overflowing and my garbage not even full even though I...

Interesting that light is better than white for mercury in canned tuna but I don't eat enough of it to worry so much about that, same with the fish they say not to eat. Though Chinook Salmon from the Puget Sound concerns me in general luckily there are many other healthy options and that's my main fish choice when I eat it and wild is pretty...

I connected with my neighbor and we learned all about what trees are native, and the benefits of them! She was wanting to add more shade around her house and I told her I would help her into finding some great native options! We looked at our local city regulations (of course) so we knew any size and distance limits. (Also, always get a...

The biggest water problem I have is that I don't have control over the front yard watering, the HOA does. I don't have a lawn and have established flowers so it's a struggle on that front. I always report when the sprinklers are going too much on the common areas and always advocating to mow and do less. I moved to drip irrigation in the back...

I did not know that palm oil was used in so many products. I already try to avoid it in my food products but this was a surprise. And oh those microplastics. Some of my products are already glass so it can be recycled and I try to refill products whenever possible but I need to look into other options as well.

I helped my neighbor choose and plant 3 trees around her house. 2 crabapple and 1 dogwood. Both are native and will have amazing blooms as well as provide shade for her yard and great for birds and bees!

What was truly sad was the length of the list.. and that it's all man made destruction in one form or another. 160 in the last decade alone. None on the critically endangered list really surprised me except for the mountain gorillas and maybe the sea turtles.

how much of it not protected, how much has been lost, and how much is in danger or polluted already. And it's not just in other less-developed countries. The biggest takeaway I suppose is how little time we really have to fix the problem.
