I spent the day at Point Pelee in Ontario, Canada and I happened to come across a bit of litter at the beach. This was a beautiful park and it hurt me to see that others had either purposefully or accidentally left behind trash which not only took away from the beauty of the landscape but could have a harmful impact on the local wildlife. I was glad that I remembered to bring a trash bag so I could help keep this place beautiful for others. Helping out in this way made me feel like I was improving my community for not only myself but for others to continue to enjoy our parks and lakes.

Clean up this weekend at Milliken State Park in Downtown Detroit. The last two bags I collected came directly from the park's wetlands.

Freshwater + Oceans Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans

Despite their differences, freshwater and oceans are interconnected through the water cycle. Ocean water evaporates into the atmosphere where it forms clouds before falling back to Earth as precipitation. This precipitation replenishes freshwater sources such as lakes and rivers which eventually flow back into the oceans.

Action Track: Community Borrow Before I Buy
How did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?

Borrowed a tool from the neighbour instead of buying it. Also, put a few household items I no longer needed on the curb that were collected by another neighbour for use in their home. Sharing economy saves money, time and builds a community of sharing/giving.

This week I planned out all of my meals in advance, and I've already seen a difference in my stress level and wallet. Usually I'm making a quick grocery trip throughout the week, by planning ahead and using food I already have at home I've saved myself from going to the grocery for at least one week!

I continue to make changes in my lifestyle that impacts my single usage of plastics and will continue to do so. However, I find that personal products such as haircare and personal hygiene products still use a lot of plastics.
