My Why: In 2020, I lucky enough to be have an opportunity to step back from fast paced life I had been living, take a look around, and research many hours into climate change, our environmental impacts, and what we could be doing better for our planet. This sparked a love and passion in me for environmentalism and that's why I'm here today! To protect our planet, our future, and our home.

Its so fascinating to see how so many of us share similar values and paths that led us here. Together, we got this.

What did you notice about your thoughts or emotions during or after meditation? Did you find it easy or challenging to meditate?

I found it challenging to meditate, but it was nice to take a few minutes a day to refocus.

What surprised you most about your water footprint, and how did it influence your perspective on water use? What changes can you make to reduce your water consumption, and how will these impact your daily routine?

I was pleasantly surprised by how much of an impact me and my partner's vegetarianism had on lowering our water footprint. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that folks are actively investing in grey water systems which is so cool!

This month, I made a point to keep ecological impact in my conversations with people - something I've always held back on out of fear of being labeled a buzzkill. And maybe I was a little less entertaining to some, but there is also a chance that someone was able to resonate with something I said. After all, someone saying something is how I first started learning and caring about a lot of things.

Word of mouth is a powerful force, it is best if it's used for good.

End of EcoChallange 2025! What a time it was, thanks for participating!

Started using peppermint essential oil as a natural spider repellent. Apparently, many bugs, spiders, and even rodents are deterred by certain scents, notably citrus, peppermint, and eucalyptus. About a month into having sprayed potential points of entry, we have not seen a single spider in the apartment, none in the car, but still an occasional morning spider on the car. Turns out they don't get much of a say in what to land on when they "balloon", peppermint or not.

Overall, I'd call it a success!

That's awesome! We use it at our house also. I haven't used it myself but apparently, also walnuts can be used? I'm skeptical but intrigued!

Where in your life do you emit the most carbon? What change are you willing to make in your daily life to reduce this output?

I didn't realize how high my carbon output was until I took this assessment and have learned ways that I can reduce my consumption such as eating more vegetarian meal options in my week, reducing my food waste, putting more/better insulation in my house (currently working on this project), and reducing single use plastics to a minimum.
