What water justice issues did you learn about, and who is most affected in your community? How can you contribute to creating equitable access to clean water in your area?
I learned that California's water justice system is rooted in land theft and racism, as BIPOC communities tend to get more of the contaminated and unaffordable water while investment funds and insurers benefit from over-pumping water. To address this injustice and address climate change, we need to take actions like ensuring equitable water access, increasing underground water storage, and reducing water usage for private benefits.
Feeling proud of the small but meaningful impact created through this journey. It’s been extra special doing this alongside my nephew and my mom, who supported every step of the way. And of course, a big thank you to the Coursera team for keeping us motivated throughout!
Here’s to carrying these habits forward beyond just a month 💚
Thank you for sharing this, Fancy! I definitely want to continue some of these habits forward and hope you are able to as well. Appreciate all your participation!
So sad this challenge is going away, hoping the accountability will stay!! I will definitely take forward all the new knowledge and the routines built. Thank you Green-Team for leading this annual challenge!
I spent this eco challenge focussing on improving my personal health. I wanted to get more sleep, eat healthier and get outside in nature more. The biggest difference I have noticed is my adjusted sleep patterns, especially not feeling like I need to majorly sleep in at the weekend!
I also focussed on reducing my water usage, taking shorter showers. This started because I took a water usage quiz and was SHOCKED at the amount I would use over a year. If we all do a small part it makes a big difference!
So proud! I also started shifting my sleep and prioritizing it really has made a difference in also helping me take more time to give back to myself vs getting up to early to get the day started!
