I was talking to my friend about whales today and the conversation turned into us stressing the importance of taking care of the oceans!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Soil and Food
The way we sort waste has changed! Name one item that used to belong in the 'garbage' stream but now belongs in the 'recycling".

I am saving lightbulbs to be disposed of at a lightbulb recycling center. It is quite out of the way because I travel by bus, but I don't want to contribute negativity to waste.

Walking to the bus today with my 4-year-old, we saw a wrapper on the ground and she pointed to it saying “that’s not good for the planet’s future.” I asked her what she thought we could do and she said “put it in the garbage.” So I picked it up and brought it home to put in our garbage bin.

    “Easy peasy”

I was very excited to read in the local (digital) paper the news about more times being added to the Kitchener GO train line!

Sunday before the heavy rain, I planted some kale and arugula seeds in the front garden. Looking forward to fresh homegrown greens!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    What is resilience?
What definition of resilience did you choose to share, and why? How did others respond to it, and did it spark any new insights for you?

Have been thinking about this alot as of late, but to me, resilience means adapting to environmental change, and the ongoing effort to look after our environment. More importantly, for me, as it relates to earth month, that I'm taking small and thoughful steps towards a healthier planet & community for my kids in their future

We use rain barrels to collect rainwater for our gardens. With the recent rain we've had, we have two barrels that are now full!
