Reusing, recycling, composting and burning has been a help to keep from using the landfill.

It is difficult when you have children, but we are all learning together, and it has been a great experience in living clean and saving money as well.

Planted a rain garden with butterflyweed, forget-me-nots, little bluestem, and purple coneflower.

I practice rotational grazing and no-till farming. Endophyte-free pasture grows in my pastures, and I compost horse and cow manure, food scraps and landscape trimmings and use the compost to fertilize the pastures and garden.

Most of the water is directed away into the pond and then drains into the field. French drains have been added in the pasture to keep the water draining there instead of running toward the house.

I allow dandelions to grow in my yard and planted lavender.

I work from home and turn off lights and computer monitors when I'm not in the room.

My Earth Month Ecochallenge 2024: Conservation is going great! I am especially inspired by the Total Eclipse! It reminds me of how beautiful Earth, Sun and Moon are and how they all work together! Let's go Team CC PLM Conservation! We need to save Planet Earth for future generations!
  • April 10 at 12:14 PM
The new fact I learned is that only about 0.5 percent of Earth's water is available as fresh and usable water. That's not very much at all! We need to be safe guarding our precious water!

It's too early to plant in our area of Ohio yet. However, in reading that marigolds are good to plant for bees due to the nectar that they provide, I will definitely include these in my yard this year. I will also look for other nectar producing flowers to plant in the pots on my patio and deck.
