Yes, lots of plastic waste everywhere. It will take all of us working together to clean up the mess, and find solutions to stop it.

A lot of things I do in my daily life are conservation focused. I have been meal prepping every week for the past two years, using a reusable water bottle everyday and I almost always bring reusable bags to the grocery store. Some of the harder challenges were a no waste day, picking up litter, and planting bee friendly flowers. Successfully completing a day of no waste would have taken a lot of prep and planning to the point that it didn't seem worth it, although I think the value here is that I started to realize how much waste I accumulate throughout the day.

Feels good. It makes grocery shoping easier, takes the thinking and worry out of the cook and preparation, and it saves money since I reduce the amount of food I am throwing out.

When traveling to Canada this past weekend, my two friends and boyfriend and I decided to go to get Hot Pot versus going to check out more commercial stores. We spent 2 hours at an all you can eat Hot Pot place and the only waste generated was about four paper napkins. The experience was great, waste minimal, and it supported the local community financially. We probably would have accumulated a few bags and plastic items had we gone to other stores.
