You'll be an Earth Month Ecochallenge 2025: Conservation expert in no time!
"My life's journey is to become a Shaman. Part of the journey is knowing, we cannot heal ourselves, if we cannot first heal our environment. My mission is to make an impact to help the earth heal as I walk on this journey to heal myself and others around me. We are all one; the air, the water, the animals, the trees, the plants, all elements and all energy exist as one, my goal is connect as many others as I can to that truth, and make the world a better place."
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 5 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Staying connected strengthens relationships and boosts well-being. Each day, I will reach out to 4 friends or colleagues to check in, have a meaningful conversation, or offer support.
The more we know about the wildlife around us, the better we can protect species. I will download a wildlife monitoring app and log 5 animal or plant species I discover.
Bees and other pollinators are vital to ecosystems and agriculture. I will spending 20 minutes learning about local pollinators and why they are so important.
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Young people are making a big impact on the world. I will spend 20 minutes learning about a young leader working on environmental or social justice issues to get inspired and share their story on social media or the Ecochallenge feed.
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Knowing our carbon footprint is the first step to reducing it. I will calculate my carbon impact and identify lifestyle changes that could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment. I will share my commitments to lowering my impact on the feed.
Small contributions can drive big ideas. I will support a crowdfunded sustainability project to help bring innovative, eco-friendly solutions to life and share the project on social media or on the Ecochallenge feed.
When companies and governments make large-scale changes to their products and practices, it makes sustainability more accessible to the masses, in turn creating further demand for sustainable products, and the cycle continues. I will advocate for improved, sustainable food packaging through petitions, letters, or by supporting brands that prioritize eco-friendly packaging - and share my advocacy actions on the feed.
Leave No Trace means enjoying nature responsibly by minimizing our impact and leaving the environment as we found it, or better. I will spend 30 minutes learning about the seven core principles to minimize my impact while enjoying the outdoors.
My action is to spend the day cleaning the environment around me. I see so much trash and destruction we as humans have left behind. My goal is to start one mile at a time and clean the roads and creeks surrounding my home.
A bio-blitz helps youth engage with local biodiversity. I will organize or participate in a bio-blitz with young people to identify and document the plants, animals, and insects in our area.
Learning by doing empowers youth. I will conduct an environmental audit — such as a home energy or waste audit — alongside a young person to teach them practical sustainability skills and see what I learn from them as well.
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
