Join The Trail Conservancy and The Rowing Dock in the Earth Day Jubilee by volunteering to cleanup the land and water of Lady Bird Lake
Land, Water, and Air
Take Shorter Showers
Conserving water helps protect this precious resource. I will shorten my showers to 5 minutes to save water and reduce energy use - each time saving up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water!
Community and Connection
Join your local Green Team or participate in an Earth Month activity organized by them
Get involved! Join your local Green Team to connect and work on local sustainability initiatives. Or, participate in one of the many Earth Month activities they've organized.
Sustainable Innovation
Take the Green Pill Trainings on Emerson Learn
Learn about sustainability by taking two Green Pill modules on Emerson Learn. Choose the topics that appeal to you most!
Health and Well-Being
Go Get a Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.
Land, Water, and Air
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.
Health and Well-Being
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 45 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Wildlife
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 5 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Community and Connection
Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 1 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
Community and Connection
Join a Group
Belonging to a group can help build friendships and a sense of purpose. I will explore online or in-person groups or clubs that share my interests or goals and join a group to connect with others.
Land, Water, and Air
Conduct a Home Energy Audit
Reducing energy use helps protect the air and climate. I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy and reduce pollution.
Sustainable Innovation
Replace Old Bulbs with LED Bulbs
Energy-efficient lighting is a bright idea. I will replace 5 incandescent light bulbs with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Sustainable Innovation
Choose a Product Made with Sustainable Materials
Every choice matters. I will purchase or switch to products made from sustainable or recycled materials to support innovation and reduce environmental impact.
Wildlife
Learn to be a Responsible Tourist
Being a responsible tourist means not disturbing wildlife and choosing eco-friendly tour operators and destinations that prioritize wildlife conservation and respect animal welfare. I will spend 20 minutes researching ways to travel responsibly to ensure my adventures support, rather than harm, wildlife and their habitats.
Health and Well-Being
Prepare for Extreme Weather
Extreme weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, and floods can disrupt lives and upend our communities. I will take proactive steps to prepare for extreme weather by safeguarding my home and creating or updating an emergency plan and kit with essential supplies, evacuation routes, and contact information.
Empowering the Next Generation
Donate to Support Emerging Leaders
Investing in young leaders helps shape the future. I will make a donation to a program or organization that supports emerging environmental leaders.
Land, Water, and Air
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Community and Connection
Visit or Learn About a Culturally Significant Site Near Me
Sites of cultural and spiritual significance hold deep meaning for many communities, particularly Indigenous peoples. I will learn about or visit a site near me that is significant to the history, culture, or environment of the area. I will approach my visit with respect by researching its importance and guidelines beforehand, reflecting on how we can preserve these spaces for future generations.
Land, Water, and Air
Calculate My Carbon Impact
Knowing our carbon footprint is the first step to reducing it. I will calculate my carbon impact and identify lifestyle changes that could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment. I will share my commitments to lowering my impact on the feed.
Wildlife
Plant (or Adopt) a Plant
Landscaping with native plants, gardening, and having plants inside can have benefits for nature and our health. I will plant or adopt a new plant or grow one from seeds and post a photo of it to the feed.
Wildlife
Learn to Grow Plants Your Way
Growing plants can be rewarding and can create habitats big and small for wildlife. And, we can grow things almost anywhere! I will spend 10 minutes researching options for growing plants either inside or outside.

Regina Willis 4/25/2025 11:38 AMI went to the grocery store yesterday and realized we didn't put the reusable bags back in the car. I had limited time and couldn't go back to the house, so I just bought more when I was there. It wasn't enough and I still had to use some plastic bags. I have to do better going forward!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeHow was your experience intentionally trying to eat less meat?
Regina Willis 4/25/2025 11:35 AMWhile I can be more intentional about eating less meat, I realized that I usually have at least one meatless meal per day already. That's a good start! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirHow did changing your dishwashing habits make you more mindful of water use? What other small changes can you make to conserve water in your household?
Regina Willis 4/15/2025 1:09 PMIn the past, I've started the dishwasher even if it wasn't full, just to be done. Now, I'll rinse the dishes and put them into the dishwasher, but not start it until it's completely full. I also changed the wash options so the dishwasher doesn't run as long. -
Regina Willis 4/15/2025 1:03 PMI didn't get to work out yesterday, but I'm determined to get out of the office early today so I can enjoy this nice weather. My goal is 3 miles tonight!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingWhat did you do to prepare for extreme weather events? Share any tips or resources you found helpful in the feed!
Regina Willis 4/08/2025 2:24 PMConsidering there was a tornado that tore through Round Rock and hit only one block from my mom's house, it has been on my mind to make sure my family knows what to do in the future. We just got done discussing the warning signs, safe spaces in our home, emergency contacts, etc. I had to navigate this conversation with an 8 year-old that I don't want to scare and an indifferent 23 year-old.
The National Weather Service has some great tips. You can find them at https://www.weather.gov/safety/tornado-prepare.-
Cindy Cuasito 4/08/2025 2:28 PMThank you for the information! Hope all is well with you family and their neighbors. I am from TN and know all too well the devastation and heartbreak tornados can cause to families and the community.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat did you learn about the sacred site’s history and significance? Why are these sites important to protect, support, and understand?
Regina Willis 4/08/2025 8:27 AMI took time to learn about the Texas African American History Memorial on the grounds of the State Capitol. The memorial recognizes the many contributions of African Americans to Texas and the emancipation from slavery on June 19, 1865, now celebrated as Juneteenth. It recognizes Buffalo Soldiers, musicians, cowboys, businessmen, legislators, aviators, and sports champions. It's important to highlight the contributions of all Texans!-

Regina Willis 4/07/2025 1:20 PMWe declutter at least 2x per year. The past two weekends, we spent time decluttering and packing up items to donate. It's good to know that the Round Rock Area Serving Center works with a company to recycle clothing and shoes that they can't use here locally. I'll be making the drop-off tomorrow. -
Regina Willis 4/07/2025 6:10 AMI joined this challenge because I wanted to help the team earn point and a little bit of peer pressure :). I've participated in previous years but not seriously. This year is different. The interaction with other team members really makes it fun and motivates me to keep going.
