I learned about the Sustainability Pathways Initiative and took actions as a Rising Aficionado! Throughout this month, I participated in a campus clean up, gained knowledge on our sustainability initiatives, shared my feedback, and became more fluent on sustainability topics. It's been a great month of action!

I played pickleball with my Ecochallenge teammates yesterday! It was great to be back on the court after a long winter.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
What did you learn about how tourism impacts wildlife, and how can you make more conscious choices when planning a trip? How do you think your travel decisions can contribute to wildlife conservation and respectful interactions with nature?

    Scott Twelves's avatar
    Scott Twelves 4/24/2025 11:14 AM
I learned that there are organizations that help to protect ethical wildlife tourism. When planning trips in the future, I will make sure to consider whether wildlife experiences are harmful to the animals, and won't support them if not. The less we support unethical wildlife tourism, the more it will encourage places to consider better treatment or certifications.

Agree and this is best practice. I avoid the elephant rides in SE Asia beaches, camel rides in MEA desert, and donkey rides in the UK!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How did your experience go in trying an action to Leave No Trace? Did you notice others doing the same, or not? From a perspective of having empathy for others, why might people not adhere to the Leave No Trace principles?

Our team helped to pick up trash around our company's campus. We found old styrofoam coolers and plenty of other trash in areas that clearly were inhabited by wildlife (likely beavers based on the chopped down trees). It felt good to clean up their habitat without disturbing them and making it safer for them in the future.

Our team joined a Campus Cleanup event to pick up trash and recycling around our campus. We filled 5 trash bags and 3 recycling bags during our hour outside.

As a diabetic, it's important for me to get regular check ups to make sure I'm hitting my goals. I felt good after this check up because my numbers are where they should be!

Wow, look at you! Learning about ESG and Scope 1 Emissions during Earth Month like it’s your side hustle. Honestly, this is how it starts. One minute you're casually absorbing abatement strategies, and the next you're leading a carbon-neutral revolution with a reusable coffee mug and a spreadsheet.
Love that you're diving into the green deep end, even if it’s not your lane. Sustainability needs more crossover stars like you. ESG Avengers, assemble.

Decluttering helped me to feel more relaxed while looking at my closet and helped me feel good about donating to those who could use the clothes that I'm no longer using.
