As hostelers, knowingly or unknowingly, we participate in the sharing economy on a daily basis. Whether it's swapping notes, sharing rides, or borrowing kitchen appliances, the spirit of collaboration is part of our lives. Personally, I love sharing books—it’s not just about exchanging reading material, but also ideas, insights, and perspectives. Sharing books is my way of connecting and contributing to a culture of knowledge.
The benefits of a sharing economy are immense: it fosters resource optimization, builds community bonds, and even contributes to sustainability by reducing waste. For instance, through book-sharing, we save money and avoid unnecessary duplication of resources.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
What did you learn about how tourism impacts wildlife, and how can you make more conscious choices when planning a trip? How do you think your travel decisions can contribute to wildlife conservation and respectful interactions with nature?

    Swarna Majji's avatar
    Swarna Majji 4/24/2025 3:51 AM

Tourism can harm wildlife through habitat disturbances and stress. Make conscious choices by opting for eco-friendly tours, supporting conservation efforts, and following the "leave no trace" rule. Your travel decisions can help wildlife conservation by reducing harm, supporting local economies, and promoting respectful interactions with nature.
