Adrienne's actions
Health and Well-Being
Meditate
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 5 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Community and Connection
Meet My Neighbors
Strong neighborhoods are built on connection and trust. I will introduce myself to 1 neighbors or spend time getting to know people in my community.
Sustainable Innovation
Invest in the Future of Sustainability
Sustainable investments shape a greener future. I will research and invest in companies, funds, or projects that supports sustainability, such as renewable energy, green tech, or sustainable practices. I will share more about who I supported with others on social media or in the Ecochallenge feed.
Land, Water, and Air
Take Shorter Showers
Conserving water helps protect this precious resource. I will shorten my showers to 5 minutes to save water and reduce energy use - each time saving up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water!
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags do not always end up in landfills and if they aren't properly disposed of. In nature, they can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and harm wildlife. When I go shopping, I will be sure to bring my own bags to reduce waste and the chance that plastic bags could find their way into wildlife habitats.
Land, Water, and Air
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Health and Well-Being
Replace a Product
Small changes can make a big difference for health and sustainability. Using what I learned from auditing ingredients in the products I use, I will replace 1 toxic or harmful products I use with safer, eco-friendly alternatives.

Save water. Shower smarter. I've cut my shower time down by a few minutes by listening to songs while showering (most songs nowadays are between 2 to 3 minutes!). This is more fun than setting a timer and this small change can save up to 10 gallons of water. #EcoChallengeThursday #ShorterShowers #SmallStepsBigImpact -

Today, practice mindful consumption. Before tossing or using anything, let's pause and ask: Do I really need this? Choose reusables. Avoid excess. Reduce waste - intentionally. Sustainability starts with awareness. #EcoChallenge #MindfulLiving #SustainableThursday #WasteLessLiveMore -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat did you learn about your neighbors or community through this action? How can building connections with your neighbors improve your community?
Adrienne Johnson 4/17/2025 12:36 PMStrong communities start with simple connections! I joined my local Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) meeting to discuss building a safer, stronger and more supportive community with my neighbors and the local Chicago Police Department. #TogetherWeCan #NeighborhoodConnections #CommunityBuilding -

Single-use plastic bags are used for just minutes but take hundreds of years to break down! Let's challenge ourselves to bring our own reusable bags with us when shopping - and take it one step further by keeping a few in your car (or purse) at all times. Having them on hand makes sustainable choices second nature. Small habit. Big impact. #EcoChallenge #Day13 #ReusableBags #KeepItInYourCar #WasteReduction-

Definitely need to keep one or two in my purse. Too often I have to run back to the car because I forgot to get them out of the back when I walk in the store. 😊 While it adds steps to exercise, I need to create a reminder somehow to grab the bags as I go in. If I have a quick trip with minimal items, I just carry the items out without a bag. One step I stopped years ago was putting my produce in the small produce plastic bags. It is amazing the amount of people that ask if I need a bag when carrying an armful of produce to my buggy. I politely decline and say it is better for the environment if I do not hoping it will stop others from using them as well. 🌎 -

Totally agree with your plan! We also keep a few trash bags in our car, and use as many times as possible, until they get soiled.
