  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
What impressed you most about the youth-led project you supported, and how did your involvement help?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/29/2025 10:34 AM
The school I helped with their little garden was quite impressive. I was shocked to see how much had already been done by the kids there. While my help was useful, I feel as though those kids were impressive enough that they could have probably finished the whole thing before I even got there.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
How can schools play a bigger role in shaping future environmental leaders, and how can you support them?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/29/2025 10:26 AM
Schools play an important role because of what they can teach the kids who learn there. For example, right now I am taking an environmental science class. Classes like the one I am in right now can help shape the future for environmental leaders.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
Who is the young leader you learned about, and what at inspired you most about them? How can you support or amplify the work of young leaders in your own community?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/29/2025 10:24 AM
I spent more time learning about Greta Thunberg (an obvious answer to the question, but I still had some knowledge gaps to fill about her). I was inspired to learn more about her actions because of what we learned about what she did earlier in this class. It's always important to stand behind these sorts of young leaders because they are our future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What sustainable product did you purchase, and how does it align with your values?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/24/2025 11:19 AM
I purchased some reusable packaging for the food I have in my home. A lot of our food is currently stored in non-reusable packaging, and changing that would allow me to enjoy my food without the cost to the planet.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What actions did you take to advocate for sustainable food packaging, and how were they received? How do you think widespread changes in food packaging could benefit the planet?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/24/2025 11:16 AM
I signed several online petitions (not a large impact, but it still helps in a way). Widespread changes in food packaging would lead to a large decrease in pollution of the ocean with plastics, as many times food is packaged in plastic, and hundreds of millions of people eat food packaged in plastic per day.

Everything you do that demonstrates an issue matters to you makes an impact! Your petition responses prove that people care, which makes it harder for the powers that be to ignore that particular issue.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What industries or sectors do you believe have the greatest potential to benefit from sustainable innovation, and how could they drive meaningful change? How do you think sustainable innovation will influence our future?

The mobile delivery industry, like Amazon, is known for putting small things in massive boxes. If they were to package more sustainably, they would waste far fewer resources than they do now.

I do believe we should avoid large companies like Amazon and buy locally to support local businesses and add to the local money multiplying effect.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
Who is most affected by environmental degration or environmental irresponsiblity in your community? How are they affected? What actions can you take to support those affected by these issues?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/24/2025 10:49 AM
People who live near areas that are neglected are most affected because they see the damage every day. I lived near one of these areas at one point, and it was very sad to see it every day. The most important thing to do to support those people is to help clean up those areas, as keeping them neat will bring them joy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
What did you do to prepare for extreme weather events? Share any tips or resources you found helpful in the feed!

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/24/2025 10:45 AM
I made a few simple first aid kits that would help in case of a minor injury, and some food kits that could be taken with you to help survive an extreme weather event. Something to remember is to always make these sort of kits mobile.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What changes did you make to improve your sleep, and how did they affect your day?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/24/2025 10:42 AM
Unfortunately, this one did not work for me. I still get around 4 hours of sleep per night, and despite my best efforts here, nothing changed. I would like to be able to sleep for at least 2 more hours per night, but thus far, I have not been able to figure out how to.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
Are you a gardener or house plant lover? Why or why not? What do you need to elevate your plant care skills?

    Auldren Schappelle's avatar
    Auldren Schappelle 4/21/2025 2:51 PM
I am more of a gardener than someone who enjoys houseplants. I prefer dirt to be outside, not making messes inside my home. I should take a gardening class to truely master the art of gardening.
