Exercise makes me feel alive. I’ve recently joined a track group and it feels so good to be running on the track with a group! Helps me push myself.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?

Trying to make smoothies more! And I am so excited to see corn on the cob in the store. Made elotes with what we had in the house!

The biggest new change that I've made during this ecochallenge is picking up trash on my daily bike commute into work. There's a light I always catch, which in the past was always super annoying. But there is a trash can there. So I now look at being stopped at the light as an opportunity to clean up the trash I see on my 3.5-mile route. Now I just need to figure out how to secure a little trash can to my bike! :)

I found some leftover seeds from last year. Planted them a few weeks ago, and my bok choy (pictured) and kale are sprouting!

I've been batching up all my #2, 4, 5 and 6 plastics for about a year. Dropped them off today at a James Recycling pop-up event near me. What a wonderful business started by a local teenager.

Saved some Whole Foods food from going to waste. While I hate that it's packaged in plastic, these bins are great for reuse. My son likes them for storing his soccer trading cards.

I always feel conflicted when I save expiring prepared food at Whole Foods that is packaged in a clamshell. Ugh. Luckily New Seasons recycles #1 clear plastic, which they turn into "new" clamshells that they use in store.
