Share My Why
Take the Earth Month Ecochallenge Feedback Survey
I will take a short survey about my experience to help the Ecochallenge team improve future events, earn a chance to win a prize, and earn 15 points!
Share My Why
Share My Why
I will share my Ecochallenge story and why I'm taking action for the planet — and earn 15 points!
Wildlife
Plant (or Adopt) a Plant
Landscaping with native plants, gardening, and having plants inside can have benefits for nature and our health. I will plant or adopt a new plant or grow one from seeds and post a photo of it to the feed.
Land, Water, and Air
Reduce Plastic Waste
Recycle hard-to-recycle #2, 4, 5 & 6 plastics.
Wildlife
Plant Milkweed
Help Monarch Butterflies
Community and Connection
Join a Group
Belonging to a group can help build friendships and a sense of purpose. I will explore online or in-person groups or clubs that share my interests or goals and join a group to connect with others.
Community and Connection
Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 1 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
Community and Connection
Keep My Community Clean
A clean community benefits everyone. Each day I am outside, I will pick up 5 pieces of litter to keep my community clean.
Sustainable Innovation
Recharge gadgets with solar
Use solar power to recharge my family's phones and tablets
Health and Well-Being
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 1 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Land, Water, and Air
Reduce Food Waste
Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.
Wildlife
Try At Least One Principle of Leave No Trace
After learning about the Principles of Leave No Trace, I will take at least one action to minimize my impact on the outdoors while enjoying nature. I will post what I tried to the feed to encourage others to do the same!
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 20 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Wildlife
Learn to Grow Plants Your Way
Growing plants can be rewarding and can create habitats big and small for wildlife. And, we can grow things almost anywhere! I will spend 20 minutes researching options for growing plants either inside or outside.
Land, Water, and Air
Join a Cleanup Effort
Working together to clean up public spaces helps the environment and builds community. I will participate in 2 community cleanup efforts in my neighborhood or local area.
Sustainable Innovation
Public Transport to Event
Take public transportation instead of driving to an event in town

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Ginny Figlar 4/30/2025 9:33 PMExercise makes me feel alive. I’ve recently joined a track group and it feels so good to be running on the track with a group! Helps me push myself. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?
Ginny Figlar 4/30/2025 9:30 PMTrying to make smoothies more! And I am so excited to see corn on the cob in the store. Made elotes with what we had in the house! -
Ginny Figlar 4/30/2025 9:45 AMThe biggest new change that I've made during this ecochallenge is picking up trash on my daily bike commute into work. There's a light I always catch, which in the past was always super annoying. But there is a trash can there. So I now look at being stopped at the light as an opportunity to clean up the trash I see on my 3.5-mile route. Now I just need to figure out how to secure a little trash can to my bike! :) -

Ginny Figlar 4/10/2025 11:54 AMI always feel conflicted when I save expiring prepared food at Whole Foods that is packaged in a clamshell. Ugh. Luckily New Seasons recycles #1 clear plastic, which they turn into "new" clamshells that they use in store.
