Watch the short video below to learn the basics.
You'll be an Earth Month Ecochallenge 2025: Conservation expert in no time!
"More than ever, the drive towards more sustainable lives is imperative work. Let's join together to learn from one another and empower each other to make manageable changes to protect our home!"
Donate or volunteer on Emerson E-Waste Day
I will take a short survey about my experience to help the Ecochallenge team improve future events, earn a chance to win a prize, and earn 15 points!
I will share my Ecochallenge story and why I'm taking action for the planet — and earn 15 points!
Join The Trail Conservancy and The Rowing Dock in the Earth Day Jubilee by volunteering to cleanup the land and water of Lady Bird Lake
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Clean energy should be accessible to all. I will support, donate, or volunteer to help programs that bring solar energy to low-income communities, helping create a more equitable and sustainable future.
We have adopted Hester’s Crossing between I-35 and CR-172. With adopting this road, we will be cleaning it up once every 2 months. We will meet out front of the East Building Lobby at 8:30 and split into groups.
Become a Sustainability Aficionado or invite one of your colleagues to join if you're already tuned into the program.
Get involved! Join your local Green Team to connect and work on local sustainability initiatives. Or, participate in one of the many Earth Month activities they've organized.
Learn about sustainability by taking two Green Pill modules on Emerson Learn. Choose the topics that appeal to you most!
Come join the Emerson Austin Green team as we partner with Keep Austin Beautiful and the TreeFolks Young Professional group to clean up Yett Creek. Meet us at 9:00am, Saturday April 12th at Yett Creek Park in Austin. Sign up and see more details here: https://keepaustinbeautiful.givepulse.com/event/578405-Yett%2BCreek%2BNeighborhood%2BPark-Keep%2BAustin%2BBeautiful%2BDay?pkey=934ac13daba79401fce35572b7bbb19a
Small changes can make a big difference for health and sustainability. Using what I learned from auditing ingredients in the products I use, I will replace 3 toxic or harmful products I use with safer, eco-friendly alternatives.
Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside, then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.
Being a responsible tourist means not disturbing wildlife and choosing eco-friendly tour operators and destinations that prioritize wildlife conservation and respect animal welfare. I will spend 30 minutes researching ways to travel responsibly to ensure my adventures support, rather than harm, wildlife and their habitats.
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 10 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 2 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
I will spend 15 minutes reading the Ecochallenge feed each day and giving high fives or commenting on posts by people who I don't know, but whose content inspires or interests me.
A clean community benefits everyone. Each day I am outside, I will pick up 3 pieces of litter to keep my community clean.
Tues., Apr. 8th, 5 - 8 pm: Join other members of the Green Team at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center (4801 La Crosse Ave) to enjoy time outside. Wildflowers will be in bloom and you may be able to spot the Wildflower Center's resident Great Horned Owl! Family and friends welcome, admission required - reserve a spot in advance at https://lbjwc.ticketapp.org/portal/product/43?
Idling cars wastes fuel, contributes to climate change, and pollutes the air in our communities. I will turn off my engine when waiting in my car to reduce air pollution and carbon emissions.
Leave No Trace means enjoying nature responsibly by minimizing our impact and leaving the environment as we found it, or better. I will spend 30 minutes learning about the seven core principles to minimize my impact while enjoying the outdoors.
Small contributions can drive big ideas. I will support a crowdfunded sustainability project to help bring innovative, eco-friendly solutions to life and share the project on social media or on the Ecochallenge feed.
Every choice matters. I will purchase or switch to products made from sustainable or recycled materials to support innovation and reduce environmental impact.
There are many amazing projects supporting wildlife and their habitats. I will choose a project or organization to support that helps species and habitats I care about and make a donation.
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
