Dishwasher Efficiency
Hand washing dishes can use more energy and hot water than a dishwasher. To save water, I will use a dishwasher and scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading them into the dishwasher.

Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Henry Yarsinske 4/15/2024 11:04 AMI haven't checked in in awhile, but I've been taking quicker showers lately to try and cut down on my water usage. I've also been loading the dishwasher to the absolute LIMIT and handwashing dishes a lot more, and turning off the water when I can in between washing to cut down on leaving the tap running.
Another thing I've been doing, but not really tracking, is turning off power strips when I know I won't be in that room for awhile. I have a TV room with a lot of electronics that are "always on" and sipping power, so I've been killing those power strips to save some use! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Understand My Water FootprintWhat did you learn about your water footprint and what are you going to do to reduce and be aware of the water you use?
Henry Yarsinske 4/01/2024 12:34 PMCannot believe the average person actively and passively uses over 1,500 gallons of water a day depending on diet, transportation and other factors. I'm going to try and reduce my water footprint (even though I love a long hot shower sometimes)
