The waste we create daily can go unnoticed. I will track the waste I create in a day and post a photo log on the feed to see how much I create and where I can make different choices to reduce my waste going forward.
Land + Forests
Zero Waste Day
The impacts of our waste are far reaching. I will create zero waste for an entire day and share my reflections and learnings on the feed.

Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Cooking Oil DisposalDid anything about this action surprise you? Do you use more or less oil than you thought?
Jack Spicer 4/30/2024 9:37 AMMy family and me don't pour any cooking oil down the sink. We use all of the cooking oil until its gone and throwing the plastic bottles in the blue bin or reuse them for other stuff. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests Personal Waste AuditWhat are the results of your waste audit and what did you learn? How can you reduce your waste going forward?
Jack Spicer 4/30/2024 9:30 AMI dont waste that much stuff in my home. I use a brown paper grocery bag to hold my waste. like soda cans, paper plates, water bottles, napkins/paper towels. For week, i used that grocery bag to collect my waste. At most it usually has around 20 items or lower before i depose the items in the right bins. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests Zero Waste DayWhat was hard about having a Zero Waste Day? What did you learn about yourself and your habits?
Jack Spicer 4/30/2024 9:20 AMme and family like to reuse plastic straws, plates, and bottles until they stop "being useful" instead just throwing it away. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Jack Spicer 4/30/2024 9:15 AMBy picking up litter from time to time keeps the community clean and safe. Picked up like 2 soda cans around the sfsu campus, 2 paper plates around my work and 1 plastic bottle around my neighborhood.
