I will continue to contribute to Emerson's environmental sustainability goals beyond April by learning more about the Global Green Teams Network, joining a team near me, or maybe even creating a new team.
Climate + Air
Calculate My Carbon Impact
Carbon emissions can show up in many surprising ways in our life. I will calculate the carbon emissions associated with my household and consider how lifestyle changes could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment.
Freshwater + Oceans
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Endangered Species
Wildlife and biodiversity play an important role on our planet and are being threatened each year. I will spend 60 minutes each day learning about the current status of local or global wildlife and how I can align my actions to support their livelihood.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
"Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation."
My action focuses on conserving biodiversity and preserving wildlife. I aim to raise awareness about the importance of protecting these precious resources and create a sustainable balance between ecological systems and human activities. The primary goal of my actions is to safeguard and preserve the diversity of life on Earth. Biodiversity refers to the variety of organisms, ecosystems, and genetic material found in a given area. By preserving biodiversity, we safeguard the future of our planet and ensure that future generations can enjoy the beauty and richness of nature. I chose to take action on biodiversity and wildlife conservation due to several compelling factors. Firstly, I believe that nature has an inherent value that should be respected and preserved. The loss of biodiversity can have devastating consequences on ecosystems and human societies. Secondly, realizing the interconnectedness of all living beings, I want to protect ecosystems and the services they provide, such as clean water, clean air, and fertile soil. Lastly, biodiversity plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of our delicate ecosystem, making it essential for the sustainability of life on Earth.🌿🌍🏞️🐾
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Seek Alternative Gifts and Souvenirs
When traveling, I will seek souvenirs that support local communities and do not cause harm to the environment or wildlife.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Grow Local
I will research and plant a garden filled with native fruits, vegetables, and flowers to nurture local wildlife and ecosystems. I will find nearby nurseries that offer plants native to my area.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Invest in Nature
A healthy world needs both our daily actions and support from larger systems. I will spend 40 minutes learning about how I can use my investments and savings to advance environmental sustainability.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Save the Bees
Bees are vital to ecosystems. To help save the bees, I will learn which local flowers provide nectar and plant them in my backyard or in a pot on my balcony.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Biodiversity and Me
I will spend at least 20 minutes each day researching what biodiversity is, how biodiversity positively impacts our world, and how the loss of biodiversity harms it. I will share what I learn on the feed.
Land + Forests
Explore My Area
When we explore natural spaces around us, our connections with them change. I will spend 15 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood, office, or campus (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Land + Forests
Regenerative Agriculture and Me
Regenerative agriculture focuses on farming and ranching in a way that supports life and restores the soil. I will spend 40 minutes learning about regenerative agriculture and find out if any nearby farms practice regenerative agriculture.
Land + Forests
Advocate for Forest Protection
Using my voice can help create a more sustainable and just world. I will contact 2 local, regional, or national decision makers to advocate for public policy that protects forests and improves their ability to sequester carbon and nourish biodiversity.
Land + Forests
Choose Eco-Friendly Wood and Paper
Trees provide food and habitat for local wildlife species, shade our streets and homes, and help keep our air and water clean by capturing pollutants. Buying products that help protect forests makes a difference. I will only purchase wood, furniture, and paper products from ecologically certified sources such as Forest Stewardship Council.
Action Track: Community
Pick Up the Phone
I will gather a group of friends, family, neighbors or colleagues to make 5 phone calls to public officials or companies to advocate for planet-friendly policies.
Land + Forests
Carry My Trash
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me this month, to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill. I will post on the feed my reflections, conversations, and actions I will take moving forward.
Action Track: Community
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 1 hours in my community.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Plastic in Clothing and Water
Synthetic clothing can contain plastic and shed harmful microplastics into our water. I will use a microplastics catcher in my laundry, or install a microplastics filter for my washing machine.

NITESH SEKHSARIA 4/22/2024 4:01 AMThe Impact of Heavy Rain in Dubai
In the recent days, Dubai has experienced heavy rainfall which has significantly impacted the city and its surroundings. This unprecedented heavy rainfall, which has not occurred previously in the United Arab Emirate, has had a noticeable effect on both the environment and the well-being of its inhabitants.- Effect on Roads: One of the major consequences of the heavy rainfall in Dubai is the complete flooding of the roads throughout the city. This flooding has not only hindered traffic and caused inconvenience to commuters, but it has also affected the structural integrity of the roads themselves.
- Impact on Nature: The heavy rainfall in Dubai has also had a detrimental impact on nature. The excessive precipitation has caused flooding in low-lying areas, submerging vegetation and disrupting ecosystems.
- Slight Effect on Earth: While the impact of heavy rainfall in Dubai is significant on a local scale, it has also caused a slight effect on our planet as a whole. The heavy precipitation has contributed to a rise in sea levels, as the water runoff has found its way into our oceans.
In conclusion, the recent heavy rainfall in Dubai has had a profound impact on both the city and the natural environment. The flooding of roads has caused inconvenience to commuters and disrupted transportation networks. The impact of nature has been even more severe, with the loss of habitats and soil erosion. This event, which has not occurred previously in the United Arab Emirate, serves as a reminder that even small changes in weather patterns can have far-reaching consequences. -
