Ioana's actions

Biodiversity + Wildlife

Use Reusable Bags

Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.

Cooking Oil Disposal

Pouring cooking oil down the drain can cause damage to waterways and ecosystems. I will learn how to properly dispose of cooking oil to help support healthy ecosystems.

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 5 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.

No surprises here, I am disposing the cooking oil in separate recipients for many years now. I think I use moderate quantity of oil in general.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Freshwater + Oceans Use a Reusable Water Bottle
What did you learn about the amount of plastic we consume and what actions will you take to reduce your use of plastic?

I learned that too much plastic is being thrown away in the wrong places- like forests, soil, water, affecting the ecosystem and ultimately, our lives and future generations quality of life. Key is to reduce plastic consumption and therefore, the risk of suffocating our Planet in it. We must become smarter and wiser about this.

How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

Not difficult at all. I was raised with the habit of re-using shopping bags, so it does come natural to me to do this.
