Mateus's actions
Action Track: Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will organize or participate in a trash pickup at a local river, beach, or natural body of water.
Land + Forests
Zero Waste Day
The impacts of our waste are far reaching. I will create zero waste for an entire day and share my reflections and learnings on the feed.
Land + Forests
Regenerative Agriculture and Me
Regenerative agriculture focuses on farming and ranching in a way that supports life and restores the soil. I will spend 30 minutes learning about regenerative agriculture and find out if any nearby farms practice regenerative agriculture.
Freshwater + Oceans
Smart Seafood Choices
We need to support healthy seafood populations. I will spend 15 minutes learning about sustainable seafood choices, commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean, and share what I learned on the feed.
Climate + Air
Stay on the Ground
Carbon emissions from air travel is harmful to planetary and human health. Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Land + Forests
Explore My Area
When we explore natural spaces around us, our connections with them change. I will spend 1 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood, office, or campus (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Beauty and Personal Products
Beauty and personal products can create a lot of waste. I will spend 4 minutes learning about the beauty and body products I use to see if they are refillable or recyclable. If not, I will reach out to the manufacturer to advocate for those options.
Action Track: Community
Sustainability Lunch and Learn
Learning in a social setting can inspire connection and change. I will work with a friend or colleague to plan and host a lunch and learn at work, school, in my neighborhood or other location to learn more about an environmental topic important to me. After the lunch and learn, I will share more about it on the feed.
Action Track: Community
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 2 hours in my community.
Action Track: Community
Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans
I will spend 10 minutes learning more about the importance of freshwater + ocean conservation, and how I can reduce my water use. I will share what I learn with people in person, on social media, and on the feed.
Climate + Air
Online Energy Audit
Energy use and waste is often invisible. I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Climate + Air
Calculate My Carbon Impact
Carbon emissions can show up in many surprising ways in our life. I will calculate the carbon emissions associated with my household and consider how lifestyle changes could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment.
Land + Forests
DESPERDÍCIO ZERO
Farei pelo menos 1 refeição por dia sem desperdício.
Land + Forests
Borrow Before I Buy
Why buy something I will only use once or a few times if someone nearby has it for me to borrow, and why not share something I have that someone may only need a few times a year? To reduce my consumption and waste, I will create or support the sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Freshwater + Oceans
BANHOS DE 5 MINUTOS OU MENOS
Economizarei até 23 L de água por dia tomando banhos de 5 minutos. Dica: Use um cronômetro para praticar ou conte até 60 algumas vezes.
Freshwater + Oceans
Óleo no Esgoto NÃO!
Farei a coleta de no mínimo 500 ml de óleo de cozinha utilizado em minha casa, familiares e/ou amigos e trarei para Emerson para o descarte correto.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Freshwater + Oceans
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Action Track: Community
JOIN OR CREATE A GREEN TEAM AT EMERSON
I will continue to contribute to Emerson's environmental sustainability goals beyond April by learning more about the Global Green Teams Network, joining a team near me, or maybe even creating a new team.
Action Track: Community
SIGN UP TO RECEIVE NEWS ON SUSTAINABILITY AT EMERSON
I will sign up to the Sustainability Aficionados distribution list to receive global news on sustainability at Emerson, including world news and Greening OF, BY, and WITH news.
Action Track: Community
TAKE PICTURES AND SHARE ON LINKEDIN
I will take at least one photograph that is connected with this year's theme of Nature Conservation & Biodiversity (for example an urban park, bee hives, birds and other animals...) and I will post it on LinkedIn with the hashtags #EarthMonthEcochallenge #EarthMonthAtEmerson.

Mateus Lima 4/26/2024 5:27 AMI recently managed to identify that it is possible to use leftover food as a way to produce fertilizer and use it to grow food in a natural vegetable garden, which can be developed if we have free space in our home. -
Mateus Lima 4/25/2024 4:47 AMIt is very important to think about other people's focus on global ecology.
I recently shared with some friends about the eco challenge and the importance of this organization in spreading knowledge about environmental preservation. -
Mateus Lima 4/24/2024 4:39 AMI believe that during our daily routine we should pay attention to our surroundings and seek to identify areas for improvement in relation to the environment. For example, identifying plastic or paper cups, collecting them and sending these items to appropriate selective collection locations. -
Mateus Lima 4/23/2024 4:17 AMWhen shopping at the market, I always try to use returnable bags or use cardboard boxes that are used to store products, thus avoiding the unnecessary use of plastic bags, which, when discarded, take a long time to decompose and end up generating serious environmental problems. -
Mateus Lima 4/22/2024 4:12 AMThe preservation of the oceans must be looked at carefully, because it is extremely important to preserve them to prevent us from having future problems related to lack of water, problems with food due to lack of fish and other problems related to possible contamination. -
Mateus Lima 4/21/2024 6:03 AMI believe that we can use Sunday mornings to take a walk in a park close to our house and also be able to take the dog, so that together we can have a relaxing and pleasant moment and thus take the opportunity to visualize how wonderful nature is and important. -
Mateus Lima 4/20/2024 6:03 AMDuring this week I managed to meet all the goals set for this eco challenge, and in this way I was able to understand that through small actions it is possible to change the world and bring greater comfort and also that we must always seek to disseminate knowledge to other people and so together we can make the world better.-
Kiran Ware 4/20/2024 6:09 AMas you are doing small actions daily, it can be change in big impact one day.
