An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

    What did you learn about your water footprint and what are you going to do to reduce and be aware of the water you use?

    Today, I calculated my water footprint. I am pleased to report that I use around 500 gallons of water per day less than the US average, but shockingly that still puts me at using roughly 1,300 gallons of water, per day. Typically, I'm very mindful about my in-home water usage... I had never considered how much water goes into the food I consume before I receive it. It might be time for me to make some adjustments in my diet.

    I emit the most carbon (over 70%) when traveling. My apartment community has a few communal grocery trips that residents have organized - I plan to start using these trips as a start to decrease my carbon footprint from travel.
