Adam's actions
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Freshwater + Oceans
Dishwasher Efficiency
Hand washing dishes can use more energy and hot water than a dishwasher. To save water, I will use a dishwasher and scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading them into the dishwasher.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.

Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Action Track: Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will organize or participate in a trash pickup at a local river, beach, or natural body of water.
Action Track: Community
JOIN OR CREATE A GREEN TEAM AT EMERSON
I will continue to contribute to Emerson's environmental sustainability goals beyond April by learning more about the Global Green Teams Network, joining a team near me, or maybe even creating a new team.
Action Track: Community
SIGN UP TO RECEIVE NEWS ON SUSTAINABILITY AT EMERSON
I will sign up to the Sustainability Aficionados distribution list to receive global news on sustainability at Emerson, including world news and Greening OF, BY, and WITH news.
Action Track: Community
TAKE PICTURES AND SHARE ON LINKEDIN
I will take at least one photograph that is connected with this year's theme of Nature Conservation & Biodiversity (for example an urban park, bee hives, birds and other animals...) and I will post it on LinkedIn with the hashtags #EarthMonthEcochallenge #EarthMonthAtEmerson.
Action Track: Community
ATTEND THE ECOCHALLENGE CONSERVATION WEBINAR
On Wed 24th April, I will attend the Earth Month Ecochallenge Webinar on Conservation to learn about what individuals, companies and other organizations can do to promote biodiversity and nature protection.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Use a Reusable Water BottleWhat did you learn about the amount of plastic we consume and what actions will you take to reduce your use of plastic?
Adam Glassl 4/19/2024 6:48 AMUsing reusable water bottles and coffee cups are a very easy way to reduce plastic consumption. When I think about the amount of waste I would normally produce on a daily basis through consumption of water and coffee, it becomes a huge opportunity to reduce and eliminate this. All of this comes at little cost and inconvenience to me as well.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community ATTEND THE ECOCHALLENGE CONSERVATION WEBINARWhat did you learn in the webinar? Did anything surprise you?
Adam Glassl 4/17/2024 1:02 PMI attended a lunch & learn today hosted by the Missouri Botanical Gardens on sustainable landscaping. It was a great topic for a young homeowner to better understand effective ways to keep a yard/garden looking nice, but also doing my part to contribute to biodiversity in the region. Very enlightening and inspiring, overall!-
Tünde Benő 4/17/2024 10:38 PMGreat Adam! Keep it up! 😀

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Adam Glassl 4/15/2024 7:05 PMI played golf this afternoon and made it a point to pick up trash as I saw it around the course. This is something that required limited, additional effort from my end, but makes a big impact when done on a consistent basis. This is an easy action for me to continue doing during Earth Month and beyond.-
Tünde Benő 4/17/2024 10:40 PMSometimes you don’t know but you can influence other without any other effort. Great moove!
