Pankaj's actions
Action Track: Community
Let's avoid wastage of power - at home, in the office, everywhere
We see so many lights left on in places when not required. Private offices, meeting rooms, lunch rooms etc. Same at home, switch off lights for rooms not being used.

Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Freshwater + Oceans
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Pankaj Dayal 4/29/2024 10:17 AMWe all end up buying some toys for kids every other week. Resulting in a huge amount of clutter at home. These become a huge problem when they have to be disposed. Unknowingly we are contributing to the garbage dumps. So now we look for toys that are biodegradable. Keeps the kids happy and the environment happy as well.

Pankaj Dayal 4/28/2024 5:47 AMEvery time we run the washing machine it consumes power, water & detergents. We ensure to put in the most optimum load to get the most efficient wash. Wait till we have a full load. Skip one wash, if need be, to get the full load. Reducing washing cycles means saving on power, water, detergents and frees up our time to do other more interesting things in life and increases the useful life of the washing machine !

Pankaj Dayal 4/27/2024 1:29 AMMore than 25% of waste in landfills is paper. About 50% of business waste is paper. Yes, paper can be recycled but why waste it in the first place. I have pledged to minimize or eliminate use of paper. Get all my bills by email, store and shopping receipts by email, tickets via email, magazines and newspapers via digital subscriptions, etc.

Nicole Crandall 4/27/2024 1:35 AMHi PankAJ
I agree that getting receipts or emails, through emails does cut down on waste on the earth but at the same time is creates more spam calls or spam emails. Which takes away time from us experiencing life some time don't you think?
