Today I checked on my Mason Bees. I have 4 full reeds. Cocoons for the future. Saw a Momma bee in another tube. excited to start seeing native plants popping up where i planted them. This weekend i am hoping to have the water feature ready to start taking live things in. I have several plants in water ready for freezing weather to go away. Foraging has started with nettles and dead nettels for teas. Maple buds for fritters. Dandilions for all the they various uses. Mushrooms are starting to spring up with all the rain.

So far, my eco-challenge has gone very well. It's a topic that has always been near and dear to me. Rebuilding native habitats, learning about better way to use less. Reduce, reuse, recycle, reflect. All crucial to this planet and our continued presence and health. I have a project that will take months in planning and production. But I think it will be so valuable. At least to my tiny section of land. I think if we all do that much it will become a huge wave of progress.

I hatched out mason bees for the first time. Today I could see them in and out of their new home. This way I know I will have more cocoons for next spring.

it's spring time so did some garbage pick up along the highway. foraged for some wild nettles. I am planting endangered indigenous plants. in doing this ill be helping feed wild animals as well as my family in a way that uses less water. I am also recycling and old bathtub to create a water feature in the middle of this wild garden. it will have a solar powered water areator. the shallow areas will be for bees and smaller birds. I have some smaller pottery for toad houses. Learning a lot about indigenous species for my zone.
