Reduce Pollutants in Cleaning

Understanding cleaning product ingredients and their effect on water and biodiversity is helpful to our consumer choices. I will spend 10 minutes learning about how cleaning products affect our water and try making my own cleaning products to reduce pollutants.

ONE-TIME ACTION

Freshwater + Oceans

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 10 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.

COMPLETED 14
DAILY ACTIONS

Freshwater + Oceans

Understand My Water Footprint

Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

I am trying harder to conserve water usage, and I hope to add a water barrel this year for my gardening needs.

The information about how industrial farming (pesticides) robs the soil of its nutrients, while regenerative farming enriches the soil for future generations is valuable to all of us. We should all be practicing farming methods that regenerate the soil.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I am investigating the Lomi kitchen unit, since it quickly turns waste into compost, and I love to garden.....so this could be a win-win for me.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

For years, I have used a reusable water bottle made by Thermos. It is made just for water, and keeps it cold for a minimum of 12 hours. I take it with me everywhere. It has a locking top, which helps when it gets dropped. It is very durable.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I only use as much oil as needed, and let it cool in a ceramic container before I dispose of it properly in a sealed container. I will practice cleaning oil as suggested to get more life out of it.
