Amber's actions

Biodiversity + Wildlife

Use Reusable Bags

Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Climate + Air

Weekly Meal Planning

One third of all food produced worldwide is wasted, and so is the energy it takes to produce and transport that food. I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need and eating what I planned each day.

Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans

I will spend 60 minutes learning more about the importance of freshwater + ocean conservation, and how I can reduce my water use. I will share what I learn with people in person, on social media, and on the feed.

Planning meals has been a weekly process for a long time! We plan out what we want to eat, then ensure all ingredients are on hand. We have a list of the dinners planned and choose that day which one we want to eat. I find it easier to stick to when its open instead of planning exactly what we are eating on each day. We do still have food waste, but not as much when we plan out our dinners.

Did anything about this action surprise you? Do you use more or less oil than you thought?

We use paper towels to soak up small amounts of oil and dispose of it in the garbage. For larger amounts of oil, we let it cool, then place it in a jug under the sink. Once its full we will throw it out in the garbage.
