Zero Waste Day
The impacts of our waste are far reaching. I will create zero waste for an entire day and share my reflections and learnings on the feed.

Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Participant Feed

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests Zero Waste DayWhat was hard about having a Zero Waste Day? What did you learn about yourself and your habits?
Cassidy Boulton 4/29/2024 8:54 AMIt was sightly difficult to have a zero waste day. I had to be more mindful about what I was using and what I was purchasing. I switched single use items for sustainable alternatives that I already had at home. I brought my reusable bag to the store and bought items that did not contain plastic packaging, which was a big challenge. I realized that I throw away a lot of plastic and other trash. This day made me realize that I need to think more about what I actually need instead of what I want. Zero waste can be intimidating. I do not think people need to aim for perfection because that is unrealistic for most people. Although, I think it is important to do your best at reducing the waste you produce. Even small steps can make a difference.
