Climate + Air
Calculate My Carbon Impact
Carbon emissions can show up in many surprising ways in our life. I will calculate the carbon emissions associated with my household and consider how lifestyle changes could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment.
Action Track: Community
Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans
I will spend 3 minutes learning more about the importance of freshwater + ocean conservation, and how I can reduce my water use. I will share what I learn with people in person, on social media, and on the feed.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Action Track: Community
JOIN OR CREATE A GREEN TEAM AT EMERSON
I will continue to contribute to Emerson's environmental sustainability goals beyond April by learning more about the Global Green Teams Network, joining a team near me, or maybe even creating a new team.
Action Track: Community
SIGN UP TO RECEIVE NEWS ON SUSTAINABILITY AT EMERSON
I will sign up to the Sustainability Aficionados distribution list to receive global news on sustainability at Emerson, including world news and Greening OF, BY, and WITH news.
Action Track: Community
TAKE PICTURES AND SHARE ON LINKEDIN
I will take at least one photograph that is connected with this year's theme of Nature Conservation & Biodiversity (for example an urban park, bee hives, birds and other animals...) and I will post it on LinkedIn with the hashtags #EarthMonthEcochallenge #EarthMonthAtEmerson.
Action Track: Community
ATTEND THE ECOCHALLENGE CONSERVATION WEBINAR
On Wed 24th April, I will attend the Earth Month Ecochallenge Webinar on Conservation to learn about what individuals, companies and other organizations can do to promote biodiversity and nature protection.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and OceansWhat did you learn about freshwater and oceans you did not already know? In sharing this information with people in your life, which conversation was impactful to you?
CHINEDU VALENTINE ARALU 4/30/2024 1:34 AMHow much water is used at home? 80-100 gallons a day? It is shocking, and 24% is used in the bathroom! I have made a pledge to switch off the bathroom sink tap water while brushing, only turn it on as needed, and not keep it running continuously until I finish brushing my teeth. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate + Air Calculate My Carbon ImpactWhere in your life do you emit the most carbon? What change are you willing to make in your daily life to reduce this output?
CHINEDU VALENTINE ARALU 4/30/2024 1:28 AMUsing my car. If waiting more than 5 minutes in the car, I would switch off the engine. -

CHINEDU VALENTINE ARALU 4/29/2024 1:52 AMI started applying a waste segregation program to remove my waste. Also marked the waste bins outside the house to provide more context to my action, reminding the waste collector of the segregation policy being pushed by the Estate.-

CHINEDU VALENTINE ARALU 4/23/2024 8:14 AMAs part of my sustainability goal, I made it a mandate to switch off all lights or electrical appliances in my house when not in use, especially when I am not in the home or when going to bed. When in bed, I use the electric fan instead of the air conditioner to reduce electricity consumption and the emission of ozone-depleting gases. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
CHINEDU VALENTINE ARALU 4/23/2024 7:40 AMI have to switch off the car engine if I am waiting for someone for more than 5 minutes. This is my plan to reduce carbon emission.
