Ahmed Al Alawi

Emerson MEA - Western Region "KSA&BH"

"My mission is to continue adding value to those around me, while taking steps no matter how small or big to make our planet safer and more sustainable. I will do this by Reducing Waste (recycling material and food as possible), Conserve Energy (turn off lights and appliances when not needed, and use water wisely), Plant Trees (participate in tree-planting initiatives -- I'm known to have a green thumb after all). Support Sustainable Practices (like the Echochallenge.org), and lastly, Educate Others (spread awareness about environmental issues and inspire others to take responsible actions at their own level). I believe that even small actions can collectively make a significant impact."

Ahmed's actions

Land + Forests

Plant Trees

Trees capture carbon and produce oxygen that is essential to life on earth. I will support this important piece of nature by organizing or joining a community group to plant 5 native trees in my community, public parks, office location, campus or backyard.

ONE-TIME ACTION

Freshwater + Oceans

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 8 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.

DAILY ACTIONS

Freshwater + Oceans

Understand My Water Footprint

Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

Volunteer in my Community

I will volunteer 20 hours in my community.

Invest in Nature

A healthy world needs both our daily actions and support from larger systems. I will spend 300 minutes learning about how I can use my investments and savings to advance environmental sustainability.

It's unfortunate that the default around us today is to use plastic heavily. Plastic water bottles being an example, can be avoided by using insulated bottles that can be re-used. Get your own customized insulated water bottle and standout.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land + Forests Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

in order to save me from using any plastic water bottles, I rely on a 1L canister that I refill while in office or on the move; as while at home, we use reuseable glass water bottles that have a flip top. a wise choice.
