Freshwater habitats, including lakes, rivers, streams, wetlands, and aquifers, are home to an extraordinary proportion of the world's biodiversity, harboring more than 10% of all known animal species and about 50% of all known fish species. Equally crucial are the oceans, sustaining diverse marine ecosystems that support rich biodiversity, food security, and livelihoods. Together, we can conserve and protect these vital aquatic environments, paving the way for a water-secure future for all.
