What did you learn about the amount of plastic we consume and what actions will you take to reduce your use of plastic?

The average American uses about 0.34 kilograms of plastic every day, which is almost triple the amount used by the other North American countries that use just 0.09 kg/person each day. I will reduce my use of plastic by using my own reusable water bottle, using my own grocery bags at stores, and buying house/cleaning products that can be refilled in the same container locally.

Spending time outside makes me appreciate the natural world more, since it's "natural" in all senses of the word; we weren't "meant" to spend our time indoors all of the time, and being outdoors makes you recognize your part in your local ecosystems. I went to a state park on a beach over the weekend and spent a few hours watching the wildlife, waiting for the orca who were in the area to come through. I did get the chance to see a couple fins in the distance for a brief period of time, which is always awe inspiring.
