April 17 at 8:16 AMI actively practice 'lights out' especially during bird migration during the Spring and Fall. I've also visited dark sky areas in the Texas Hill Country and Big Bend -- Amazing!
-
April 17 at 7:29 AMAt the beginning of the month, I began revamping my garden. I have researched native plants for my area and removed some invasive species that were taking over the flower bed.

April 15 at 3:37 PMNext week I will be visiting staying on the Upper Texas coast and visiting several bird sanctuaries in that area. Peak spring bird migration for 2026 is currently underway, with peak movements occurring from late April through mid-May. The Texas coast is a vital biodiversity hotspot, featuring critical habitats such as the North American...

April 15 at 3:24 PMLast month, I went to see the Whooping Cranes that winter along the coast of Texas; this month I read up on them and what is being done to and read they are an endangered species with on 800 in the wild; and a large group winters along the Texas Coast - they are estimate to be approx 543 in this group with others in LA and Winsconsin. The...

April 15 at 6:38 AMI bought spring plants and mulch over the weekend, looking forward to warmer weather when it will be safer to plant. In the meantime I'm enjoying my daffodils blooming.

April 15 at 5:39 AMI definitely added more sleep on Saturday. We're empty nesters although we have our grandkids frequently for weekends and sometimes weeks at a time. This past weekend was just us and I was exhausted. I fell asleep at 5 PM. I briefly woke up at 9 PM, drank a smoothie with protein added, and went back to bed until 7 AM the next morning. I wish I...

April 14 at 7:33 AMI have really enjoyed being intentional about reconnecting with nature and learning about the various ways to help our environment. It's really helped me de-stress. I've also watched some documentaries related to Earth Month on Disney+, and it's been very enlightening. It's helped me to be more aware of my surroundings and the actions that we...

April 13 at 5:46 AMMy grandson today started a spring vacation camp at a local 4H farm that supports connection with the land and teaches kids sustainable practices. The farm teaches environmental stewardship. I'm so excited for him to attend camp, and the best part is so is he!

April 9 at 7:31 AMI use ginger and turmeric almost everyday, so I decided to plant some of the roots and they begun to grow. The ginger grew first and now I have fresh raw ginger that is home grown. The turmeric I had to plant twice, but it is now starting to sprout. Very easy to grow and useful for many many things.

April 9 at 7:26 AMI invested in reusable vacuum seal bags to store my cheeses, fruits and vegetables to help preserve them longer. I have to admit they really work and I love them. I also began to grow some of my own herbs and vegetables, by simply keeping the stumps while I was cleaning them. Can't wait until the plants mature.
