Action Track: Community Borrow Before I Buy
How did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?

I love the sharing economy! I've been a member of a freecycle/buy nothing/ pay it forward type group in any community I've lived in for decades now. There have been so many items I have gotten that I've used for a while, then passed along when I was done with it. I've discovered that I have a knack for finding local resources that follow this type of model, so I hope I can share those resources with others more often.

Freshwater + Oceans Understand My Water Footprint
What did you learn about your water footprint and what are you going to do to reduce and be aware of the water you use?

Virtual water use is a newer concept to me. It's tough, because some of what this footprint calculator was asking about were things that are necessities for our household (like pet food). We seem to be doing quite a bit for indoor use, outdoor use we can work on though - we are slowly converting our grass areas to clover and native plants that require less water. We do have a watering system that does not go on if rain is in the forecast. I'd love to set up a gray water system and/or rain barrels too!

I think I have a lot to learn still on the subject. I have a garden at home which I enjoy. I do not use any chemicals and enjoy the vegetables that I grow.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land + Forests Personal Waste Audit
What are the results of your waste audit and what did you learn? How can you reduce your waste going forward?

Waste audits are difficult because they make us realize how much we waste we are producing. I think I'm going to try to compost. Might be a good thing for my yard.

Surprisingly my water footprint was not bad. But we do try. We have gotten rid of our grass in the front and back yard and gone to drip system for our trees.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Climate + Air Calculate My Carbon Impact
Where in your life do you emit the most carbon? What change are you willing to make in your daily life to reduce this output?

I emit the most carbon in my home. I will research ways to reduce my carbon footprint at home.

Home. I think I need to go through the house and try sealing windows and light fixtures. That's a good start.

Spending consistent time outside has helped my overall wellbeing. The cool spring breeze, clear skies, and sunny days have been rejuvenating!
