I did not hit the mark on every item I had hoped to accomplish, but I did learn from others on this journey. It gives me hope for the future to see what other people are doing to make our world a better place. Thanks team.

I posted 8 biweekly emails to 2400 subscribers on the Simply Living community list. I promoted the Simply Living ecochallenge team along with events and resources related to all aspects of living sustainably - from recycling and thrifting to local food systems to community solar to transit alternatives.

Today is the last day of the Eco Challenge, and the last day of Earth Month! While I did not complete every task on my bucket list for the month, I was quite consistent with my daily tasks. I believe every action we take to help our planet is important, even if it seems small. Just helping to educate ourselves, each other, and others is...

I volunteered at the Cinema Columbus Film Festival and watched REIMAGINE FASHION. This film went deep into the environmental effects of fashion and how it has been getting continuously worse. I am going to look more at fiber content and try to get more natural fibers like cotton and wool. It made me think how I wish clothes came with a tag to...

I made Sambar (red lentil soup). It may be cheating, but my sister got me a starter kit from Inner Flame Kitchen for Christmas, and I've been using their ingredient packs to make tasty Indian dishes. Here is the recipe. Sautee 1/4 cup red onion in coconut oil, then add 1/4 cup diced tomatoes & 1/4 cup boiling water and cook for 2 minutes....

I watched the short documentary "Wiring the Amazon" about the efforts to get internet access and laptop computers in the Village of Palestina, Peru. Providing this connectivity is essential for providing educational opportunities for the people in remote areas of the world.

I watched the documentary "Solar for All" which documents a program in Washington DC to provide solar panels to residents who are not able to afford them. Converting to solar power is possible, given the will to do so.

I spent this Earth Day afternoon at Genoa Park at an event sponsored by Green Columbus, representing Simply Living at its booth. It was an opportunity to tell people about Simply Living and hopefully recruit some new members and volunteers.

Today I rode with a friend to a thrift store that I did not know about. It is on the OSU campus and only open on Wednesdays during the academic year. They said the last Wednesday for this year is May 3rd until they open again in August. The profits fund scholarships for students. I didn't buy anything, but I was tempted.

I wrote/called the three credit unions that I have accounts with and asked them if they invest in fossil fuels. One got back to me rather quickly, in a few days, saying they did not. One keep talking about what they do but not answering my question, so I kept repeating it. I still never really got a straight answer, they tried to make it sound...
