How did it feel to plant something, and what kind of gardening did you do (indoors, hydroponic, outside in a garden, etc)? What did you plant and where? Feel free to share a photo to the feed!
Last year, we helped host a Renew / For Us All Week “Prop Swap” event from our DTLA office. A few folks from the coworking space joined in too. It was a fun and simple way to build community and interest in the environment.
Fast forward to today: I came back to the DTLA office after a long stretch of working from home and found out the same coworking crew organized their own prop swap for an Earth Day event. Many new people have joined, and they told me they were inspired by the event we hosted last year. They even said they wished we were part of this one too.
If only I would’ve known (and was available!) but honestly, just hearing that made my day. It was a reminder of why staying involved with this matters. You never know what seeds you’re planting.
Here’s a photo of their propagated plants…count how many they made!
How did replacing old bulbs with LED bulbs make you feel about reducing your energy consumption? What other small energy-saving actions could you take to reduce your environmental impact?
Being overseas recently, tried to be as grateful as possible and present to my current surroundings. So appreciative of this beautiful planet and all she has to offer!
As a now 45 year old I had a colonoscopy done on the 17th this month. Last month was colon cancer awareness month and they have lowered the age to 45 due to the amount of processed foods we eat and chemicals we're exposed to. It felt great checking it off my list. I'll refrain from posting the pictures of the insides of my colon they sent me home with :)
What did you observe or experience while spending time outside, and how did it affect you? How does connecting with nature enhance your physical and mental well-being?
What surprised you most about your water footprint, and how did it influence your perspective on water use? What changes can you make to reduce your water consumption, and how will these impact your daily routine?
My home water use was relatively low, but I think I could get it even lower by shortening my shower time (or turning the shower off when not actively rinsing soap).
The overwhelming majority of my water consumption is virtual and due to the fact that I eat meat and have 2 cats. Going vegetarian would be a good solve because I don't exactly eat that much meat anyways.. I just worry about getting enough protein in a plant based diet. I have NO idea how to solve the cat food issue. We feed our cats wet food so they get enough water and cats are carnivores so their food must contain meat. Producing my own cat food at home wouldn't exactly help the virtual water problem because the cats still need to eat meat. This is easily the most shocking information to me - 3667 gallons are required to create 2lbs of wet cat food! No idea what to do about it, but will try to cut down on water in ways that I can!
