Earth Day well spent with Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and M&T volunteers today cleaning up North Creek Park. We had a great group for our annual Spring Sweep!
Happy Earth Day! Today I learned more about overwintering pollinators in my garden. It's important to leave leaves on the ground in the fall, but also to have a spot of bare soil.
Hi Samantha, It's so frustrating, isn't it? Everything - even many a vegetable - comes in plastic! I just make a point to reuse or recycle everything I can. The grocery stores take plastic bags. I also try to repurpose - the large clamshells (like loose lettuce come in) are good for organizing my cleaning products under sinks and on shelves. Would love to hear other's ideas!
I'm lucky to live in an area I think is beautiful, and I love to be outdoors enjoying it, whatever the weather. I want to protect this beauty, so stewardship of our lands, protecting native species and minimizing human impact seems like second nature. I always learn during this event, about myself and about things I can do.
