Even though it is May 1 officially now - I hope that we continue our goals and steps towards bettering our natural world

Borrowing clothes from my sister instead of buying a new outfit for a party this weekend!

A moment of reflection in a busy workday has been valuable for me. As an environmental science student, I would spend my time outside identifying trees, researching the biodiversity of urban forests, and work at my college's sustainability office. Since then, I have set goals of being a continuous learner and an advocate for my local community.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Community Borrow Before I Buy
How did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?

With the luck of having great friends in the neighborhood, comes the sense of sharing and caring. My friend and I like to share books, dishes we prepare, home grown vegetables, and also try to make home squeezed juice rather than buy a packaged juice bottle. Yesterday I borrowed my friend hand blender for my soup dish.

Freshwater + Oceans Understand My Water Footprint
What did you learn about your water footprint and what are you going to do to reduce and be aware of the water you use?

I use around 1500 Gallons per day. That is insane. I will try to limit the household water usage by taking shorter showers and being more efficient with my dishwasher
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

While I go out for my daily walks in the evening around my neighborhood, I tend to pick up litter if and when I see it. It brings me joy thinking that the place looks cleaner, that I did a social deed and clean place might bring a smile to my neighbors as well. Hope to influence others around as well.

I am so proud that I get to share this. I love to cook and being 90% vegetarian in what I eat, I tend to try new recipes or bring my spin to some dishes that I know or that I see online. I do not buy meat more than 4 times a year, which is usually packaged in meat. Shopping at Aldi and Lidl save plastic bags as I use my resusable bags. Last night while preparing dinner, I made a pure veg Indian dish and all the veg scarped were saved in a ziplock bag in my freezer as I am planning to make home made vegetable broth out of it. My trash sometimes, take me over a week to fill which makes me happy that I am not trashing the planet as much as some others might be :)
